Interestingly, Bummy's stat line —1-4 with a double and a run, was exactly the same as the A's' (is that expressed correctly?) DH, Billy Butler.Forty cranebucks to whoever can name the last pitcher who hit so effectively that he compelled his team to turn in a DH-free lineup card.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 Ken Brett - but I only knew that because of the publicity this move generated.Brett 'DH'd for himself' several times.
HahnSolo Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 Didn't remember Ken Brett, but I do recall Billy Martin using Rick Rhoden as a DH one game--and batting him 7th!*Rhoden was not the starting pitcher that day.

Bonus: he appeared on Fantasy Island.Never, to my knowledge, crapped himself in the lobby of a casino.

Much like a certain oversoiled pair of dainties.
