Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 Conforto down, ZIMMO! up, according to Internets
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 Conforto is too talented to not get his shit straightened out and work his way back, but this is the right move IMO.Nimmo expected to be in Atlanta and start in LF tonight according to a report from the Wyoming Tribune - and if you can't trust them as a source ....
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 Zimmo's already in Atlanta, the beaters say.
Guest Mets Guy in Michigan Guests Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 I get this move, but I don't like to see it. Hopefully this is a short stint to find his swing again, and dispatch De Aza and keep Nimno when condor to is ready ( and Lagares healthy.)
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 Really? 'Zimmo'? Can't we just call him by his actual name until or unless he does something endearing?

The real-estate market “has gone ‘Zimmo!’ ” Wilpon said, motioning upward and sounding like a “Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In” cast member. Same for the stock market.
RealityChuck Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 I vote for Num Nummo, though the reference is pretty obscure.

soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 Ah, 'ZIMMO!' Makes much more sense. I get it now. Carry on.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 Besides, it makes him sound like the long-lost sixth Marx brother.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 I know The Nuge is not a big forum fave, but this song rocks.I miss Conforto already but hopefully this is....[youtube:2j82uthi]TpPCCCsC2K8[/youtube:2j82uthi]
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 On-base-y, decent defense, moderate speed, questionable pop that's developing a bit late, whiter than a Trump Sunday brunch. If you take away the first-rounder pedigree, Nimmo is the epitome of the kind of guy that turns into a half-season All-Star when he gets called up to be a Cardinal, isn't he?
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 Seeing Nimmo primarily in print (and on screen) for so many years I always mispronounced his name in my head. Now hearing it so much the last few days, the correct pronunciation sounds odd to me.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 Previous ML'ers born in Wyoming (only Alaska has had fewer) although it's unclear how many of them lived in Wyoming for very long:- Tom Browning (1984-1995) - but drafted out of Lemoyne College in Syracuse- John Buck (2004-2014) - the one-time NYM was drafted out of HS in Utah- Dennis Debarr (1977) pitched in 14 with the expansion Blue Jays in 1977, but came out of HS in California- Mike Devereaux (1987-1998) drafted out of Arizona State- Jan Dukes (1969-72) pitched a total of 16 games for the Washington Senators/Texas Rangers. Came through UC Santa Clara- Dick Ellsworth (1958-1971) HS in Fresno, CA- Bob Harris (1938-1942) came through Western Nebraska Comm Coll- Jeremy Horst (2011-2013) Pitched for Cincy & the Phils but currently in the Mexican Lg and also came through HS in North Dakota- Bucky Jacobson (2004) Got 160 ABs for the ’04 Mariners but was another one who had abandoned Wyoming before HS (Oregon).- Mike Lansing (1993-2001) Expos, Rox, Bosox. The first to list his HS as being in Wyoming- John McClosky (1906-1907) Pitched for the Phils; died in Pennsylvania- Rick Sofield (1979-1981) OF for the Twins, and went to HS in New Jersey- Dan Spillner (1974-1985) RHP for SD & Cleveland (or ‘The Land’ as it’s apparently now called, at least on ESPN). HS in Washington state.- Zach Walters (2013-2015) Nats, Indians, and currently in AAA Okla City (Dodgers). But, again, HS in Las Vegas, NV- Bill Wilkinson (1985-1988) RHP for the Mariners. HS in Colorado
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 Zimmo has reportedly been recalled. DL for someone or crazy trade or something.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 Team needs new blood one way or another.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 We also now have ONE RH-hitting OF to go with four LH hitters, and the RH guy is at least partially injured.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 Yup. Tough news if your name is Eric Campbell, and Travis Taijeron is wondering when he backed into Jeff Wilpon's car. But the team obviously is more concerned with their depth at center with Laggy out and Céspedes incapacitated.

Has a bat, though.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 If we want a righty who can play center, the Angels have designated the uninspiring Todd Cunningham for assignment. More interesting, if only by a little, is fellow DFA Junior Lake of the Blue Jays.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 And then there's Roger Bernadina who's doing OK (.302/.388/.470) although, as with all these guys, you have to remember that, yeah, it's the minors and, yeah, it's Vegas. He's currently playing a mixture of CF & LF and would have to be added to the 40-man as well. As I remember from his Nationals days he was uber-athletic but those talents didn't always translate themselves into baseball skills. Enough pop and speed to intrigue you but also too many Ks to ever work into a full-time job, kind of a like an earlier version of current National's OF Michael Taylor who essentially replaced Bernadina on the 4th/5th/6th OF shuttle system.
