Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 just no-hit the Reds.Cubs are kinda good so far.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 And your final score is 16 - 0.Imagine awarding Schaefer for that game! The pitcher who throws a no hitter probably gets 2 points....
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 You know, when ESPN suspended Curt Schilling last year, the first game he missed was Arrieta's Sunday night no-hitter.Somehow...[list:rdg7pq1h]Disciplining Curt Schilling : Jake Arrieta :: Spinach : Popeye[/list:u:rdg7pq1h]
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 Here's a holy crap for you: Counting the post-season, the guy is an historic 17-1 with two no-hitters in his last 19 starts. The one loss came to the Mets in Game Two of the NLCS, back when Daniel Murphy was eating opposing aces for breakfast.

Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 Kind of awesome that we caught him on his one bad day in, like, the last year.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 Arietta's last 11 reg season starts (running from Aug 30, his first no-hitter, thru yesterday's no-no): 86 IP (7.8 IP/game); 6 Runs; 37 Hits; 10 BBs; 84 K. 10 Wins, 1 ND
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 Dialing back the Arrieta freakiness a bit further to take in his last 24 starts - dating back to late June 201524 starts, 20-1 record plus 3 ND. Cubs won 2 of those 3 so the team is 22-2 in his last 24 starts178 Innings with 91 Hits allowed33 BB vs 173 K17 ER allowed = 0.86 ERA4 HRs allowed vs [u:27caqtf5]3 HRs hit[/u:27caqtf5]!!So that's more no-hitters (2) than losses (1) over a four month span and almost as many HRs hit as allowed. And how did he lose that one game? That was the game where the Cubs got no-hit by Cole Hamels making his Philly phinale.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 Arrieta's shot at 'the Van der Meer' went out the window with a leadoff single today in Chicago. Also walked two in that opening inning to load 'em up for Kirk Nieuwenhuis ... who K'd on a full count to end the frame with no runs scored.
