batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 (edited) Ever wonder what Butterball Field looked like before the Man from Topps started showing up and snapping up everything in sight with his fucking camera and his fucking copyrights? Before the Yankees trained there? Before it was even called Butterball Field or Miller Huggins Field or Crescent Lake Field? You'd have to go back to before even Ol' Case was born. Back to when Ol' Case wasn't even New Case. When all photographs and drawings and artworks were created so long ago that, by now, they're all in the public domain. That's me on a baseball card that you can use and post and link to freely without any fear that the FBI might show up and shut you down. It's from the 19th century. From before there was even an income tax. I'm from the 19th century, too. So do anything you want to that picture. Put Marilyn Monroe's tits on him. Put her tits on his mustache. Call it pop art. Whatever makes you happy. But don't put Marilyn's face on him. Her image is copyrighted. Go with Theda Bara instead. She's really old. And dead. And copyright free. So who the fuck am I?[fimg=303:17mfsc11]https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1598/24127191061_f0aa876c9e_o.jpg[/fimg:17mfsc11] Edited January 6, 2016 by Guest
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted January 6, 2016 Author Posted January 6, 2016 We believe that we've whited out enough of this otherwise copyrighted photograph to take it out of the copyright protection laws. It's fair use now. Plus we've left the Topps watermark in there for attribution, not that attribution has anything to do with fair use but just to show everybody what good decent folks we are here at the CPF. So who am I with the Mets ties and, as you can see from the fair use photograph below, Expos ties as well?
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 Mike Fitzgerald with a pitchers glove?

Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 Wow. Where on earth did you find that shot? Awesome find!I'm currently colorizing this shot and it is coming out excellent. Actually what I do might have to be termed photo restoration.I'll post a peek later tonight.[fimg=400:1xweoerb]https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-E4ktBOko9gM/VrEeHohH7hI/AAAAAAAAk8Q/-hsTVgwnDt4/s576-Ic42/001.png[/fimg:1xweoerb]
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 Gah! I thought I'd complete this tonight. I thought I was done but I see that Agee's pinstripes need more work. Here's the finished Cleon. What card border should I make it? 1968? 1969? Could be either. Photo was taken in ST '68. The caption will be MOBILE METS (unless someone has a better one).
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted February 3, 2016 Author Posted February 3, 2016 What happened to Cleon's glove? Did he have a catch with Herman Munster?
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 Okay, that colorjob is done and I've made it into a 1969T bordered card. I have a similar picture of the Mets OF circa 1970 (Jones, Agee, Swoboda), and that'll be a '71. I'd like to do at least one more for the 2016 Mets outfield. Does anyone have (or seen) a photo of Conforto, Cespedes, & Granderson together?I searched pretty hard and long last night to no avail. Also, if anyone has a photo of any Mets OF of the past, where all 3 regular starters are in it (usually posed), I'll make a corresponding card for that year.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted February 4, 2016 Author Posted February 4, 2016 I have a shot from Spring Training March '64 that depicted what was, at the time of the photo, probably supposed to be the Mets outfield of that upcoming season -- Altman, Hickman, Thomas and Snider. Altman and Hickman held up their ends but Snider was sent to the Giants a couple of weeks after that photo was taken and Thomas was traded to the Phillies during the '64 season. Joe Christopher (not pictured) got most of the other OF innings.

Joe Christopher (not pictured) got most of the other OF innings. It don't really matter to me if they didn't actually end up as the outfield that played. Just as long as at one point they were thought to be. I'm just trying to fill some space on the subject. I didn't think of looking further back in time. I'll check my files too and see if I have anything from 62-68. I really would like to avoid another colorization job for this one post. I can photoshop the 2016 Outfield into one image. And that's a situation where, we all hope Conforto works out and excels, but who knows until he does.

Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 I believe that's Elwood Blues in the hat and glasses over Neal's shoulder.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 I used a super computer to enhance the section of the dark doorway, and you can see that it's Vince Lombardi and Perry Smith (one of the murderers from In Cold Blood).
Guest cooby Guests Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 I wish whoever has that book checked out at the library would bring it back

Clem and Cookie's legs are crossed the same way in both shoots. In 1962, Perry Smith is in custody.
