Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 Hey, Man reports. This is better than him winding up with the Cubs, I'd say. Or the Nats, of course.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 BAM!!! The first big FA signing of the year falls as the Tigers take back an ace from the Nats one year after losing one to them. The word on Zimmermannnn was always that he's a small-town homebody destined to move back at least near his native Wisconsin even if not all the way to the smaller-market Brewers.Might have been a good get for the up-and-coming (maybe) Twins but I don't know that he was in their price range.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 Five years, $110 million. Zimmermann (if he passes the physical) will earn $22 million per year in a contract that ends when he's 34 years old. Which mean that if he stays healthy he'll potentially have another big free agent payday.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 I know it's half-stupid to think as such, but it's like the Mets just got better. They should thank the Tigers by signing Mike Napoli or somebody.
Guest Mets Guy in Michigan Guests Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 Tigers' owner Mike Illitch wants to win NOW and isn't afraid to spend money to get there. Zimmerman replaces David Price in the Tigers' rotation, which already has Justin Verlander and will likely have the team's return from Cespedes.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 good outcome for the Mets. The Nationals get the compensation pick, which are nice to have, but that won't help them unseat the Mets in 2016.
