Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 .Vote for the tabloid covers that you like the best. You may select up to three choices. Voting will run for seven days.Ruben Tejada gets a key hit against Miami.Bartolo Colon contribued too, with an RBI double in his 8th win of the season.Jacob deGrom and the Mets shutout the Padres.David Wright's recovery is not going well.Matt Harvey beats the Diamondbacks, but Daniel Murphy is injured.Chris Heston of the Giants no-hits the Mets. (The Daily News seems to think that it was Charlton Heston.)
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 Tipping my cap to the Snooze's esoteric play on the "Heston" head, and the Post for a punny headline that was also accurate in DOUBLE EXCEL.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 Hah, the Moses (Heston) thing sailed over my head.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 I sorta liked Citi of Nope as a headline, but then they went all negative slant and showed Granderson inset of all players so Nope.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted November 11, 2015 Author Posted November 11, 2015 Was Granderson the last out in that game? Both Newsday and The Post included a photo of him walking away from the plate.

Together it implies Granderson's an anemic bum. If you really want to put a Mets player dejected, there were better options. (Unless they didn't have access to a better pic?)

What did you expect, the Ed Charles dance of joy with Koosman and Grote in each other's arms on the mound in the background?

It's just poorly constructed, so I didn't vote for it.

But having spent your whole life in this metropolitan area, I just don't get what your expectations are from a NYC tabloid covering the local laughing stock baseball team that just got no-hitted by a no-name no-fanfare rookie.

I mean, there's a poll at top and all.I have very little expectations from the NYC tabloids. Absolutely none. I think they add zero value to the city. I was going to say "Just don't incite violence" but I don't even expect that of them.

RealityChuck Old-Timey Member Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 Nothing particularly good here, so no vote. I do note, however, the reaction to Heston's no-hitter against them. It led to a ton of disgust and hand wringing and complaining -- despite the fact that, at the end of the day, the Mets were still in first place by half a game. Then, three months later, the Mets are no hit again, and no one seemed to notice.
