Will rookie left-hander Steven Matz be available for the postseason? Mets manager Terry Collins was cryptic in pregame comments Tuesday in Philly, but seemed to hint Matz may be unable to start on Wednesday and beyond because of some issue. That would make Bartolo Colon the fourth member of the postseason rotation by default, joining Jacob deGrom, Noah Syndergaard and Matt Harvey.

Matz now will not pitch on Thursday either.

Well take a look at him tomorrow, and if he feels much better, well try to get him a game and this weekend, sez Terry.

Matt as in Harvey or Matt as in Matz?

That makes more sense.

After initially appearing like things were going OK (Gary said so during one of the recent games IIRC) the new word on Matz -- via Fred Kerber in the NY Post -- is:
The concern level has certainly gone up, said Alderson of Matz, ... It hasnt seemed to get better.
Collins said the possibility of Matz pitching this weekend rested somewhere between non-existent and the likelihood of a stranger handing you a winning lottery ticket. The Mets want Matz to pitch somewhere before the playoffs begin, likely the Instructional League in Florida. Right now I dont see how hes going to be ready to pitch this weekend, said Collins, stressing nothing is etched in stone. That can change. He can go and they may do something and he may come in tomorrow and say, Im ready to go, and Sunday we can get him some innings.

It hasnt seemed to have gotten better. Sheesh, Sandy, which Harvard did you go to?

Anyhow... LET'S GO, MATZ! LET'S GO, MATZ!
