Here's what happened. About 80% of this thread is comprised of the same baseball cards I posted when the Mets and Cards played earlier this season. Shamsky wasn't in that older thread, because, you know, he's not a Met-Card. While I was making this second thread, I suddenly remembered that Shamsky appeared on a Topps card as a Cardinal. I remembered this from that thread I started about a year ago -- Wolves in Sheep's Clothing -- on players who appeared on a Topps card as a member of a team other than the Mets while in a Mets uniform. (As an aside, I'd link to that thread for your benefit if only this search engine behaved anywhere near functional. But this searcher is by far, no question about it, nothing even remotely close, the worst search engine I've ever encountered on any web site. A search that shouldn't take more than 30 seconds, especially when I'm positive of the search terms that should turn up that thread, might take me 10 minutes, or even likelier, forever. So I'm not even bothering.) Anyways, after suddenly recalling that Shamsky Card card, I added it to this card thread, along with other cards, forgetting in that moment, that Shamsky's an interloper as far as this thread is concerned. And that's why the thread title announces one interloper when, in fact, there are two. You got half the quiz. This entitles you to a Bob Miller '73 style Topps Padres card. If you identify the other interloper, you'll win a Kroger's 100th anniversary Keith Hernandez card.I took liberties with McCarver, who's technically an interloper, but not for the purposes of this quiz. His strong contributions to Met history merit his inclusion. Tim's no Met outsider. In the past, I've included Ralph Kiner, Bob Scheffing, and probably some other technical interlopers that I've bestowed with honorary status for these card posts.Thank you for your interest. We hope that you continue to enjoy this and all future card threads on this theme.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted July 14, 2015 Posted July 14, 2015 I do enjoy it, and thank you! I like cross checking when I havethe time, even if it is 'cheating.'As for the search, yeah it kinda sucks, but it's the version ofphpBB we're running. At least I'm blaming it on that. Upgradingis required, The Senate shut us down, but it's a pain in the assand most everything else is working ok for now so we plod on.

The OOTP poster color corrected the Martinez pic to make the sky lighter, but in doing so, gave TM's road gray uniform a whitish home hue.
