At last report, the leading vote-gobblers in the American League All Star campaign were:

C: Perez, S | KC
1B: Hosmer, E | KC
2B: Infante, O | KC
3B: Moustakas, M | KC
SS: Escobar, A | KC
OF: Cain, L | KC
OF: Trout, M | AN
OF: Gordon, A | KC
DH: Morales, K | KC

MLB has reasonably detected that there's been some hyjinx perhaps extending beyond the typical Wild West farce that we've come to expect, and thrown out up to 60 trillion votes, or something. So there will be a new ranking at next report, or maybe not.

Of course, MLB deliberately set up a system to encourage abuse (generate interest, Edgy, generate interest!) and then tried to give it credibility by making the outcome of the game have an impact on the eventual MLB championship. These two values are obviously at odds with each other so now MLB is in the painful position of trying to determine which votes are sincere and credible, and which are meant to undermine the system. Vote a thousand times! But no punk voting, Johnny!

MLB's full of it. There's no hijinx, merely people voting. Stop pretending you don't want people to vote a billion times a day and remember that if you really have the ability to throw out votes based on more than 35 from an IP address a day, you have the ability to toss that code into the actual voting mechanism.

And it's not just that wholesale votes are allowed, but we're now three or four years into the era where teams are openly encouraging (instructing?) their fans to vote the straight party line. Even those clubs who did so in years past were somewhat subtle about it, but now you simply log onto 'VoteRoyals.com' or whatever and -- Surprise, Surprise -- votes tend to go for the home team.

You made this bed MLB, deal with it.

the ballot itself allows you to highlight a whole team.
