Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 At last report, the leading vote-gobblers in the American League All Star campaign were:C: Perez, S | KC1B: Hosmer, E | KC2B: Infante, O | KC3B: Moustakas, M | KCSS: Escobar, A | KCOF: Cain, L | KCOF: Trout, M | ANOF: Gordon, A | KCDH: Morales, K | KCMLB has reasonably detected that there's been some hyjinx perhaps extending beyond the typical Wild West farce that we've come to expect, and thrown out up to 60 trillion votes, or something. So there will be a new ranking at next report, or maybe not.Of course, MLB deliberately set up a system to encourage abuse (generate interest, Edgy, generate interest!) and then tried to give it credibility by making the outcome of the game have an impact on the eventual MLB championship. These two values are obviously at odds with each other so now MLB is in the painful position of trying to determine which votes are sincere and credible, and which are meant to undermine the system. Vote a thousand times! But no punk voting, Johnny!
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 MLB's full of it. There's no hijinx, merely people voting. Stop pretending you don't want people to vote a billion times a day and remember that if you really have the ability to throw out votes based on more than 35 from an IP address a day, you have the ability to toss that code into the actual voting mechanism.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 And it's not just that wholesale votes are allowed, but we're now three or four years into the era where teams are openly encouraging (instructing?) their fans to vote the straight party line. Even those clubs who did so in years past were somewhat subtle about it, but now you simply log onto 'VoteRoyals.com' or whatever and -- Surprise, Surprise -- votes tend to go for the home team. You made this bed MLB, deal with it.

Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 I voted for all the Royals just to mess with their heads. The system is stupid and making an exhibition game count for something is even more stupid. So that's my protest. Go Royals.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 Seriously, fuck MLB on this. If they're winning the vote, they're winning the vote. Don't be a dick just because you don't like it.
