Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 I had forgotten this IGT was on me, mainly because I a) start so few IGTsand win even fewerIn fact I think yesterday's win via my IGT brings my winning total over the last two seasons to somewhere around one.7:10 PMSyndergaard vs Mark BuehrleBuehrle is now 36 y/o in his 16th season of ML ball notable for several things: 215 wins, 14 consecutive seasons of 30 or more starts (read that one again folks), two career no-hitters (one a perfect game), and being perhaps the quickest worker in MLBThis season he's 7-4 w/a 4.25 ERA. He's a soft-tosser by today's standards who tends to give up his share of hits (>1/IP) and strikes out very few (~4 per/9 IP) but compensates by keeping his walks down (usually between 1 and 2 per/9 IP).
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 Toronto at NY MetsWhen: 7:10 PM ET, Monday, June 15, 2015Where: Citi Field, New York City, New YorkSportsDirect Inc.The New York Mets boast a young pitching staff that is the envy of most of major-league baseball. That staff will get its toughest test on Monday, when the Toronto Blue Jays and their major league-best offense visit for the start of a four-game, home-and-home interleague series. The Blue Jays put up 31 runs in a three-game sweep of the Boston Red Sox over the weekend and topped it off with a 13-5 victory on Sunday that pushed their winning streak to 11 straight. Toronto is averaging eight runs in that span and showed off the power up and down the lineup with home runs from the likes of Ryan Goins and Danny Valencia in Sundays triumph. The Mets took two of three from the Atlanta Braves over the weekend and are clinging to a half-game lead in the National League East. New York showcased its own offense with four home runs in Sundays 10-8 victory its first double-digit scoring output in nearly a month.TV: 7:10 p.m. ET, SNET (Toronto), SNY (New York)PITCHING MATCHUP: Blue Jays LH Mark Buehrle (7-4, 4.25 ERA) vs. Mets RH Noah Syndergaard (2-4, 4.15)Buehrle is making his third straight start against an NL East team after allowing two runs and eight hits over six innings in a no-decision against Miami on Tuesday. The veteran scattered six hits in a shutout of the Washington Nationals in his previous turn. Buehrle has yet to earn a win against the Mets, owning a 0-3 record with a 4.39 ERA in four starts. The Blue Jays will be getting their first look at Syndergaard, who started his career in the Toronto system before heading over to the Mets in the trade that brought R.A. Dickey to Canada. Syndergaard was on the wrong end of a no-hitter by San Franciscos Chris Heston last week and has lost his last two starts. The 22-year-old surrendered a total of 11 runs and 20 hits in 10 innings against San Diego and San Francisco.WALK-OFFS:1. Goins is 6-for-14 with nine RBIs and four runs scored in his last three games.2. New York C and former member of the Blue Jays organization Travis dArnaud has hit safely in four straight games since coming off the disabled list and has five runs scored and four RBIs in that span.3. Toronto SS and former Met Jose Reyes has hit safely in 11 straight games.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2015 Author Posted June 15, 2015 Just waiting for me to get around to posting this, huh?Cuddyer has more career ABs vs Buehrle than against any other pitcher* and is hitting .318 with 3 HRs & 11 2Bs among his 36 hits.* by a LOT! (117) - Sabathia is next with 68

Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 The Mets are 9-0 against the Blue Jays all time at home.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 I got a baaaaad feeling about this series. Toronto is just firing on all cylinders right now.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 winning 15 in a row is hard.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 Well, logically, it becomes a lot easier once you have 11 wins already in the bag.

Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 What's this i read about Cuddyer awarding the MVP of each game with a garish Met logo belt? The player keeps it in his locker until he loses the belt to the next games MVP. Anyone hear about this? Anyone have a pic?

Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 (edited) Bautista takes Thor out in the first. It was not a bad pitch. 98mph on the inside corner. But Bautista got all of it plus, pulling it into the 2nd deck.1-0 Bluebirds Edited June 15, 2015 by Guest
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 30 plus pitches for Noah in the first. Toronto tried to keep it going but Synderguaard, working very carefully, got out of a first & third situation. For those who care Reyes K'd leading off the game.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 Mets down 1-2-3 in the first. Cuddy hit a long drive to deep right that Bautista nabbed short of the OF wall.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 Thor returns the favor with a 1-2-3 second.

Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 I stepped off for a few. Tracker said an injury delay in the 3rd, after Reyes lined out.....oh, I see, they are talking about it now. Home plate ump was injured by a foul under the chin. Yow. He leaves the game. Hope he's okay.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 Quite a delay here as they rotate umps. Why is this taking so long?
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 13 minute delay. Sheesh. Nothing bothers Buehrle, perfect thru 3.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 Wow, they are way out in front of Thor's change-up. Strikes out the side & has 7 Ks after 4 innings.Still 1-0.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2015 Author Posted June 15, 2015 Biggest problem right now (aside from being no-hit thru 3 innings for the 3rd time inside a week) is that Syndergaard has logged 5+ innings worth of pitches in just 4 innings.Buehrle, meanwhile, has thrown less than half as many. Now no-hit thru 4
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 Cuddy shoulda been swinging 3-0. With two outs, take a poke.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2015 Author Posted June 15, 2015 He did the first time around ... didn't do him any good.
