This is just horrible. I guess we all figured someday it would happen, but it doesn't make it any less awful. A female fan in the 2nd row at the game in Boston was hit with a shard of broken bat. Don't look at the pictures or video unless you want to be upset. She was attending the game with a young child, who I feel equally for, because he looked to be very young. A police officer was carrying the boy as they stretchered the woman across the field at high speed to the right field exit of the stadium.
The video was upsetting because you could clearly hear to poor fan screaming in pain. Very upsetting.

Just tragic. And scary.

"Expected to survive" is the phrase now being used.

I've said before that I think it's only a matter of time until netting gets extended well beyond where it already exists, hopefully before a complete tragedy like the girl who was killed at a hockey game a decade or so back. If nothing else, the threat of litigation will probably be enough to scare teams into acting.
