Yeah, I'm in camp and on the roster despite not having played above Savannah. Why's that? Dumb question. I'm glad you asked.

The Mets are inviting me to camp and putting me on the roster because I tortured the South Atlantic league to the tune of a 0.63 ERA. No drib-drab sample size either. That was done over 41 appearances comprising 57 innings. You want good. I give you Eckersley-in-1990 good. Except I don't have his control. I walk people. But you can do that, you know, when you hold opponents to a .111 batting average. That's what I do.

But so what? That's flash-in-the-pan stuff, right? Yeah, shut up. I pulled the same trick the year before in Brooklyn. Forty-five innings and 1.00 ERA. Wanna know where you sign up for that? Right here, babies.

Yeah, the South Atlantic League is four stops short of the end of the line on the MLB subway. You're right about that. But if you're so darn right about everything, how about telling me what I'm going to accomplish this season?

I'm wondering why he hasn't risen faster through the organization. I hope he skips ST Lucie and goes right to AA. There, he will go:
75IP, 106K, 2.06 ERA in 56 games, and make it up to AAA for 5 games.

Considering that he needed three seasons of Rookie ball before he found it (whatever "it" is) let's not act as if he suddenly has things all figured out to the point to where he deserves to skip levels.
He just turned 22 and has two good years of low level ball under his belt. There's nothing wrong with him starting the year at least in the pitching friendly Fla St League.

When you think of garbage, do not think of Akeel!

Continued progress. Spooky-good strikeout numbers. High minors by fall.

This guy slips my metsorgmemory entirely, he could be the bass
player for a regional Cali bar band for all I knew. I'll go with the
pack and say all minors for 2015.

Dude had been pitching for, like, a year before being drafted. He's doing fine, pace-wise.

Sure, and even with the repeat auditions in rookie ball he's been right about at the median age for where he's been pitching the last two years.
But that lack of background as an amateur is even more reason to not start him skipping levels off of one good year at low-A ball (as was suggested above).
PSL sounds perfect for where he needs to be this season. And if he's blowing that level away at mid-season then we'll talk promotion.

Maybe not, but that's two good years of Low-A ball, unless you don't think Brooklyn counts.

Two fairly great ones.

We saw him pitch on Sunday and were not impressed. I don't think he's close to being Major League ready.
