Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 He was the best thing the team could get without a 2009 first rounder, then he was an alleged Met fan who probably loved Jeter, then he was utterly nothing, then suddenly pitching again, and then, very surprisingly, a high-end prospect, ahead of many uninjured first-rounders, and ahead of Syndergaard to some watchers.[fimg=600:1qw1tq3v]https://thenypost.files.wordpress.com/2014/03/matz.jpg[/fimg:1qw1tq3v]Steven Matz... what the hell is he? And what are we gonna get this season?
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 Fred will see Steven and have Sandy flashbacks. And he won't be hallucinating. If he stays healthy (knocking wood) this kid is for real. I see a late season call-up, and a 2.65 ERA and 1.12 WHIP in 65 innings. If he comes up earlier, the Mets could continue a string of ROY pitchers.Later
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 I guess his chances to be our second straight Rookie of the Year hinges on when Niese goes down with a shoulder injury.Late May could do it.Predicting a good year with the usual caveats.22 games/starts, 9-5, 3.00, 140 innings 131-35 K-BB.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 ROY if he's promoted before Memorial Day. Plus, you'll need that if you want the Mets to get to the WS in 2016. Because whenever a Mets RHP wins the ROY award (Seaver. Gooden. de Grom?) the Mets win the Series two years after.Whenever a Mets LHP wins the ROY award (Matlack) the Mets are in the Series the following season.
