Guest sharpie Guests Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 Your new interim manager of the Texas Rangers after Ron Washington resigns for personal reasons.Joining the ranks of former Met managers.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 Rangers were horrible and Washington had been on a short leash from day one due to cocaine history.Good luck to Tim and a prayer for Ron's health.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 Short leash? Only four managers in MLB had been with their teams longer.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 Interim managers named in September usually have next to no shot to take the job on a more permanent basis, that's why they're interim guys in September. But congrats to Bogar.

I don't know from cocaine, but Wash is a guy I never got the idea was taken very seriously as an appointment, but then surprised everybody by succeeding --- kinda like Jerry Manuel, only better, or at least more successful. Then he succeeded some moreWash is a good baseball character and probably a good teacher though I didn't think much of his game management. He was also like Joe Torre in that he looked more broken down at the end of his playing career than he did 20 years later as a manager. I mean, tell me this guy doesn't look like he's in his 50s and knows what the inside of a prison looks like.Whether or not this appointment means anything for Bogar, he's clearly on the manager track.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 I heard something about Bogar possibly being on Houston's list for next year and beyond so, if nothing else, this is a trial run for him.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 While we're on the subject, DBacks GM Kevin Towers is sacked in the first of what will probably be many moves under Arizona's new Capo di Tutti Tony LaRussaTowers said to be "evaluating the opportunity" to take another position within the organization.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 Ron Washington played for the Tidewater Tides as a loaner. Was never a Mets farmhand, but frolicked among them for a season back in time. Hope all works out for the most successful manager in Texas Rangers history.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Looks like it'll get worse before it gets better for Ron Washington.Wash appears have resigned under the cloud of a sexual assault investigation, supposedly involving a female reporter. Without mentioning any such accusations he has made a statement today appearing to acknowledge infidelity.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 To his wife of 42 years.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 I have no idea who that is.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 He realizes that. That's why Brewers GM Doug Melvin is making that sour face. He's very proud.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 He may be proud, but that doesn't make him a former ML player(and, yes, my previous post did not specify ML player when listing current GMs but I think that was pretty much implied)
