Multiple reports indicate:

 Montero to start Wednesday (Mets have confirmed).

 Mejia will be in the bullpen (ditto).

 deGrom is having his start at Vegas skipped, suggesting a relief role for him with the big club.

Seems to reduce the minutes left on the premises for Valverde and/or Farnsworth.

One can only hope.

Pretty short leash for Mejia though.

Germen Measles, most likely

So if deGrom is already up then obviously another move is necessary to get Montero here by Wednesday's game.
I suppose it could just be deGrom right back again but maybe something more is in the offing.
If deGrom is up for good (however long "good" is) the logical departee is one from the fabulous duo of Farnsworth & Valverde. I'd vote Valverde but I don't know that there's a huge difference either way.

I hope they stocked up on lower-case d's for their unis - although with an already crowded outfield it doesn't look like den Dekker is getting back here anytime soon.

Nice.
But I think he's suffering from the dreaded "Second Time Around the League" virus.

What kind of virus puts you on the 15-day DL? Must be something really nasty. Or they just made that up to fudge the roster.

I think you just answered your own question.

He seems to have fallen out of favor a little (I disagree) but if he's contracted whatever is going around and you're without him a couple of days, might as well swap him out.

It's also worth noting that he hasn't pitched since 5/5 and that means his DL stint is already half over.

I vote Farnsworth. I think Valverde might still have something left. A couple of hot streaks here and there. I'm not sure Farnsy has any value at all and last night didn't help his case.

I think Farnie has got to beat it. Maybe he accepts an opportunity to stop giving up screaming line drives in Vegas.

Valvy is the emergency closer backing up Familia. Mejia/Torres/deGrom/Rice get the important stuff; Dice K is the long man.

Statistically it's a virtual toss-up

KF = 19 G; 17 IP; 18 H; 6 BB; 10 K; 3.18 ERA; 1.41 WHiP
JV = 15 G; 15.1 IP; 14 H; 7 BB; 19 K; 4.11 ERA; 1.37 WHiP

I think I said in some thread somewhere that Valverde seemed to have lost any semblance of swing-and-miss stuff, but those K-rates say otherwise.
Also the Pitches throw/batter are about the same for each:
KF = 275 pitches to 71 batters faced (3.87 per)
JV = 257/67 (3.84)

my impressions of it is that KF has pretty much sucked most outings while JV has been more hit or miss.

I can't see Farnsworth taking Familia under his wing and teaching him how to act. I can see Valvy doing that.

Besides, Farnsworth has some awful B.O., you can tell just by looking at him.

I can see Farnsworth taking Familia under his wing and giving him a swirlie.

It's a shame he wasn't clean yesterday. You know the Yankees would be eyeing him this morning if he got the job done.
