Wolves of '68:

Another close call on Davis. If he's wearing road gray, the lack of piping puts him in a Dodgers jersey. If he's in home white, and you believe the jersey is pinstripe-less, then he's also wearing a Dodgers jersey. You gotta believe Davis is in pinstripes for him to be a Wolf of '68.

OE -- Kroll's wearing a Phillie top, as evidenced by his horizontal shoulder pinstripes. Same for Smith/White Sox.

Wolves of '74:

None. Unless Topps whited out Agee's pinstripes ala Strom '73, and painted in collar stripes:

OE -- Nah. That's an Astro collar, which Topps wouldn't have drawn in on a Dodger card. So, no Wolves of '74.

Maybe this thread'll inspire our custom card-makers to thrown down their own Wolves in Sheep's Clothing creations. Something like an Ike Davis in a '72 Pirate template in a Met home pinstriped uni cropped around the jersey wordmark with a cap/helmet painted yellow and an ugly Pittsburgh "P" drawn on.

If I had known of this card when collecting the '62 Met Topps cards I would have considered it a must for inclusion.

I had never seen that card before. Excellent find Bats.

There should be an entire blog covering airbrushed hats and unis, if there isn't already. A lot of material to mess with there. I'll make an Ike for fun when I get around to it.

Wolves of '75: Topps now routinely whitewashes elements of the old jersey -- thus, removing most traces of the sheeps' clothing.

You make the call on Strom. Did Topps whitewash a Met or Indian jersey?

I touched on that when we solved the mystery of the Rusty Staub Twinkees disaster.

Lamabe removed. Those horizontal shoulder stripes puts Jack in a White Sox uniform, Jack's other '67 team.
