Since the deal

Ike: .185/.290/.333 -- 5 Hits, 1 HR, 1 2B, 7 K

Lucas: .235/.308/.382 -- 8 Hits, 1 HR, 2 2B, 10 K

Slight edge Mets. Neither is anything to write home about.

I'm guessing that the whole PtBNL-will-arrive-after-the-draft is merely unconfirmed speculation, but I'm teeing this thread up now.

I'm growing susceptible to the notion that the answer is sluggy shortstop Alen Hanson, who has been at AA for about 90 games now, searching for his lost shaker of ObP, but otherwise looks to be a well-rounded shortstop, if not a leadoff hitter.

Is it one year after draft, or one year after contract is signed? we might have a few weeks yet.

Trade Update:

Duda (Full season) - 262 ABs; .260/.359/.485; 13 HRs
Ike (Pitt portion only) - 201 ABs; .244/.357/.398; 4 HRs
Quite similar until you get to the HR part - and if you're going to be Ike Davis and not hit HRs then ...

Zach Thorton (since deal) -- 32 G; 39.2 IP; 45 Hits; 15 BB; 43 K; 3 HRs; 3.86 ERA; 1.51 WHiP
aka: Welcome to Las Vegas. Mainly what's worse since the deal is his walk rate [3.4/9 after being a bit over 2.0 during his previous 4 minor league seasons] and his HR rate slightly [virtually none to still under 1.0/9]

Blake Taylor (GC Mets) -- 3 Games, 1 Start. 10.2 IP, 1 Hit YAAAAY!, 7 BBs Booooo, 10 Ks
IOW, welcome to the world of 18 y/o hurlers (turns 19 next month)

Lucas Duda since the trade: 66 G, .251 / .349 / .474 // .824, 10 HR.

By the way, something's glitching at the UMDB, so as to make everybody's 2014 OBP the same as their batting averages.

Thanks for letting me know. I'm guessing it's just 2014 stats? I've recently had to switch to a new source of in-season data, and maybe something went awry there. I'll take a look.

That's cool. I think that the knight in Indiana Jones would say we chose wisely.

You really can't go wrong choosing the simpler one that looks like it just might give you splinters.

This has been fixed now. Thanks again for alerting me about it.

Time to re-visit this thread again, especially since both Ike & Lucas have been in the news lately
Duda - for his HR spree that's brought him to nearly the league lead
Ike - for the good news of winning the game for Pitt last night with an 8th inning PH 3R HR, and the bad that the reason he was PH-ing is that he's lost his starting job. The Pirates last week decided to slide Pedro Alvarez (and his 25 Errors at 3B in < 100 games across the diamond to 1st base knocking Ike to the bench. He already had been starting only vs RHPs in a platoon with Gaby Sanchez but now it looks like Alvarez full time and probably a non-tender for Ike at the end of the season.

So anyway, 2014 Y-t-D

Davis = 325 PA; .238/.352/.379; 9 HRs
Duda = 471 PA; .258/.352/.504; 26 HRs

Ike totally will end up as a Yankee next year --- start off pinch-hitting and defensive replacing. Then an injury will force him into the lineup where a run of warm weather and short-porch feasting will give him a solid four-to-six weeks, with Yankee fans a-gloating, before he Overbays back to earth.

So you're saying that their regular first baseman has a problem staying on the field?

It's a complicated formula.

Odds go up as Mets' fortunes improve, so guys like Lagares and Duda could really rocket up the charts if/when the Mets make the playoffs.
