I can't visit ESPN at work so I can't read the article, so I know not how grave his condition is nor who the Mets have lined up as a replacement.

Ron Romanick is expected to replace Viola as the pitching coach for the Pacific Coast League team.

They apparently detected a faulty ticker upon his routine physical at spring training. Not sure the severity of it but heart surgery is kinda scary.

With all due respect... he's a pitching coach in Vegas. Any doctor who'd clear him to return to work should be stripped of licensure, shouldn't she?
