For the first time in team history, the Mets will be adding a second hitting coach, a trend that's been spreading through MLB. In fact, they become the 20th team to add such a position. The practice wasn't started by Tony LaRussa, but he did apparently popularize it, as you may have guessed.

Welcome to the fold, Luis Natera. After 24 years in the system and seven as the hitting coach for Bingo, you certainly deserve your shot. In fact, you may be the last-ever Little Falls Met to debut in the Majors.

Natera gets replaced in Bingo by former B-Met Luis Rivera, who had been scheduled to return to Kingsport this season, so bully on him, and it keeps the team's Luis factor intact.

Natera also came to the big leagues from Kingsport to Bingo to Flusihng, so it's not such a dead end as all that.

Satin raves about him , of course he does, served time with him, but apparently the guys really do rave about him. Good for him, welcome.

You get the idea that Luis Nutera is of two minds this morning. On one hand, he's laid low enough to dodge the axe when Hudgens wasn't so lucky. On the other hand, he may have laid so low that nobody thought to consider him for the promotion.

I was wondering about that. I wonder if he's got a very niche role or specific purpose that's not a general "be the hitting coach" thing?
