Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 It was moderately popular last year, so we'll try it again this year. IPP stands for Individual Player Predictions. These will be threads where we share our expectations of how a player will perform in the current year. Feel free to make your predictions as specific or as vague as you like. (You can find a listing of the 2013 IPPs here.)I'm kind of tempted to skip creating threads for middle relievers. Maybe next year.Gonzalez Germen? Ummm... he'll make the team. 4.50 ERA. Back and forth to Las Vegas for a while. Total of 25 innings for the Mets.

MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 Its "second time around the league" time for him, and the results will not be kind.German, who had ERAs of over 4 and 5 his last long stints in AA and AAA will continue that trend (last year being the oddity) and have a Robert Carson-ish run in limited appearances.Probably something like 0-2, 6.74, 17 IP.Later
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 Yeah, except, he's better than Carson. He's got interesting stuff, and he could blow up in the bad way pretty easily, but I have faith. I'll go out on a limb and say that if he makes the team, he's the non-Black surprise of the pen.55 G, 56 IP, 3.04 ERA, 1.28 WHIP, 51 K, 8.2 K/9, 3.8 BB/9, 3 HR allowed
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 He'll be up and down all year. 2 wins, a save, a 4.5 ERA, and 30,000 frequent flier miles on Southwest Airlines.
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 Yeah, I think he'll get a few free flights out of Southwest before the season is over. Which is a polite way of saying he won't be good enough to stick.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 Enjoy the heat, at least it's a dry heat.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 Yeah there is little basis for a Carson comparison. Completely different guys. He's apparently got a heck of a changeup.Uh, 4-3, 3.59, 2 saves, 1 emergency turn as a hitter in the 13th inning resulting in game winning double.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 Last year I thought he was going to be sent back down at the first available opportunity, but his ML numbers turned out to be better than his minor league ones and he wound up doing a halfway decent job. He's not a young guy (27 before this season is out) so probably what we see is what we're gonna get.
