Nitkowski needs some work but he wasn't too bad. Needs to tell you whether it's a ball or strike before describing the pitch, though. That 's OK on TV but not on the radio. A minor quibble. And yes, he had no chemistry with Howie.

CJ's the best of the guests who fill in for Josh. Not that Phillips, Byrdak and Duquette are all that hard to top. But yes, CJ could do this regularly if he wants.

So, has anybody else found John Franco's act to be as awful as I have? Mumbles half-baked jock cliche platitudes in New Yorkese with no regard for the pacing. "What I've notice this year, Howie, is de Mets are afraid tuh brush people back."

Franco is very Jeteresque in that he always seems so conscious of a certain pre-constructed image in projecting his personality that he has very little personality left.

Agreed. Franco might be worthy of a spot on the post-game show but he is not a good color man, even with Howie's guidance.

Franco is flat-out awful. But he's a Jeffy favorite, so I suspect we'll be hearing more from him, unfortunately.
