What a complete waste that guy was.

Every time I read that name, it made me do a double take. The first and last names just didn't go together. Now I probably won't have to read it so often.

Tribe re-signs Shaun Marcum to a minor league contract, an excellent investment should they plan on playing 20-inning games.

Ray Burris will be coaching Triple-A Phillie pitchers before they ascend to the majors and hopefully pitch like Triple-A Phillie pitchers.

According to Yahoo Sports, the Pirates have designated Ike Davis for assignment.

Either Ken Davidoff has won some degree of redemption with whispers that seem to corroborate his take on R.A. Dickey, or the alleged Wilpon Smear Machine has infiltrated the Toronto organization.

I'll buy you a coke if that MFYs don't sign Ike.

The piece doesn't say he's a troublemaker, or a bad guy. All it said was that he argued with his manager about getting pulled early, but what pitcher doesn't?
All i can really see in that article is that jocks don't like other guys in a clubhouse who think, particularly if they can think about things other than the game. Yeah, he's a grown up and an individual capable of independent thought, and probably doesn't have much patience for or interest in the obsessed 1-dimensional managers and teammates that are always surrounding him. And they probably resent that.

I'll take him back in a heartbeat.

On the one hand they already have Teixeira at 1B plus about seven DHs
On the other he's not likely to have his pick of starters jobs elsewhere and, given 150 ABs in YSIII, he could mis-hit about 20 balls into HRs

If that manager is John Gibbons... hell, what Toronto Blue Jay doesn't?

Alan Dykstra signed to a minor league contact with Tampa Bay. He never was a 40 man roster Met, but will always be in our hearts.
I wish him well.

In double ex-Met news, the Pirates have traded Ike Davis to Oakland in exchange for some swapping of international bonus money.
And to make room for Ike on their roster they released the just picked-up Andrew Brown.
