I was with most of my family and some friends, given Fireworks night was an annual tradition. (and part of the reason the park was still packed, and still loud) My brother was disturbed that the Uppers was shaking. It was really slow at first, given that there were a lot of changes and walks and such. Then suddenly focus got intense as we started to realize that it wasn't just some worthless runs, that they were actually making a comeback.

On the way home we listened to Steve Somers since the postgame was well over. His monologue was a lot of "You thought the game was over...and then there was the Eight Inning. The Mets were going to lose to the Braves again...and then there was the Eighth Inning."

Would love to find a recording of that monologue if it exists.

The story of that game was the prelude/opening statement to my "baseball is religion" sermon at our church a few summers ago.

I think those guys should be put in a group house for a new hit reality series on SNY --- The Hardcores.

A lot of folks seemed to be talking about Shea and how cheers reverberated there.

I remember the game and the Somers postgame very well. Had just begun driving to Maine when the game started and was pounding the dashboard in frustration all through Connecticut. I *almost* tuned it out which was big for me then as I didn't have much else interesting me at that time and was very wrapped up in Braves hatred.

yeah, great stuff, this was the game that really solidified my Mets love...that was a fun team to root for.
