Theoldmole Old-Timey Member Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 Remember when Murph used to say "When the Mets start hitting again -- and they will..."?
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 Murphy always had a positive spin. Always. Hey, these recent teams might suck but we have had a very fortunate team history in broadcasters. I can even remember a day I thought Tim McCarver was great.
Theoldmole Old-Timey Member Posted September 11, 2013 Author Posted September 11, 2013 Tim and Ralph were a great team. I haven't really watched Tim in his post-Mets incarnation so I haven't developed the negativbe feelings about him that some have. But I wonder if even Murph could add "...and they will..." to this bunch.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 Me too. I only have good thoughts about Tim McCarver. He (and Steve Zabriskie) made watching the Mets fun again. I've only occasionally heard his voice since he left the Mets telecast, and I have no opinion on his current work.

He still is a very good observer and he'll never suck. And its not that his style has changed much. It hasn't. When he first started he was new and refreshing. Now he's old and rehashing.
