The Freak would be fun, but I think they have pitching and need to address the offense more. I also don't think they trade Murphy, who can hit, for a prospect. I think if he goes, it's part of a package for a power bat.

Um, no.

Morneau is on the downside, has been injured and the Mets don't have a DH position available.

Lincecum? Oy gevalt. Run away. And that bullpen is no better than this year's bullpen, which you may have noticed is not very good.

I'm okay with EY playing 2nd and Choo in left, although they'd probably overpay. I'm not okay with Tejada at short. I want something better.

This is still nowhere near the offensive upside they need to be competitive.

I don't imagine they'll hand over two-thirds of the outfield to Lagares and den Dekker. Things may play out that way by the end of the season, but that won't be the plan for April. There will be at least one more player out there with at least a few years of big league experience.

I'm assuming that Tim Lincecum isn't what he was a few years ago? I suppose if he was, we'd want him but he'd be very expensive. I'll have to look up his numbers.

Choo is a popular choice, and would be a good choice. And I kinda like Morneau. I really want to see them get a better shortstop, but I don't know that there are any available. The era of glut of blue chip shortstops, like big government, is over.

I can see them trading Murphy if (a) they can get a good return for him, (B) Flores is ready to take over at second. Eric Young was a pleasant surprise, but I'm not inking him in as the answer to their leadoff prayers, especially if Choo is on the team. (And if we do sign him, do we call him "Mr. Choo"?)

Lincecum is just silly.

I would move Flores before I move Murph. I'm not sold at all on Flores. Sure, he can hit, but everything else he does on his feet is less than desirable. Young's the only current Met I'd want to see at second other than Murphy, and that's only if Murphs gone in the off season. I'd rather he not be. We know just what we got with Muffy. He plays harder than Flores and has a proven bat. As great as Young has been in sparking things up, his overall numbers are short of what we need. Still he gets things started and his base thievery is much needed. If they don't want to give him a chance starting in left to see if he can develop further Ill understand. But he's exactly the type of guy we need minus his .253avg,.316 OBP. 80Ks. Don't like that. 35 SBs tho, 28 yrs old. If he could just get his avg/obp up to an average level.....

Choo's defensive metrics are actually pretty bad, and his .671 career OPS against lefties (.546 this year) suggests that he will never see a righthanded pitcher in a meaningful late-game situation. There are some serious caveats for the price tag. I'm not spending $60M over four years for a guy who shouldn't start ahead of Andrew Brown against lefties.

Morneau has less upside at this point than either Duda or Davis.

I'd have no problem playing Young at second if Murphy gets effectively swapped out for a better-hitting left fielder.

Lagares and den Dekker might make an interesting platoon, but I'm not sure I'd want both starting.

I like Murph, but I think his value is about at its max right now. If he can be flipped for an outfielder with pop, I do it. I'm not sold on Flores, but 2nd base is the only place he can play going forward. I like EY as the swing man 2B/4th OF, kind of a Joe McEwing with speed.

It's just painful watching this team try to score runs right now. Sandy needs to find a way to turn a lot of our chicken feathers into chicken salad. If you put Satin, Davis and Duda together, you'd have a decent first baseman. Davis plays defense but can't hit. Duda has power but no average. Satin has average but no power. A real first baseman is a must.
