Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 SCHAEFER METS PLAYER AND PITCHERS OF THE MONTH, JUNE 2013The Schaefer Mets Player of the Month for June 2013 is, for the first time, MATT HARVEY. In 6 June starts, Harvey was 2-1 with a 2.31 ERA and 48 strikeouts in 39 innings. Matt's 20.08 Schaefer points for the month were just over 2 points ahead of runners up Marlon Byrd (17.94 points) and David Wright (17.76 points). Byrd, .282/.347/.482, had 4 homers and drove in 16 runs in June. Wright, .333/.393/.569, also homered 4 times, and had 11 rbi.The Schaefer Mets Pitcher of the Month for June is MATT HARVEY, who is now a three-time winner and has been the Mets most Schaefered pitcher in each of the three months so far this season. The Schaefer Mets Relief Pitcher of the Month is first-time winner CARLOS TORRES. In 6 games in June, Carlos has a 1.00 ERA over 6 games. He struck out 9 batters, walked 2, and allowed 4 hits in 9 innings. The Schaefer Mets Bench Player of the Month for June is first-time winner JOSH SATIN. It was a light month, Schaefer-wise, for bench players. Satin won with a mere 1.51 points coming off the bench, just ahead of Andrew Brown's 1.40. Of course, by the end of the month Josh was frequently appearing in the Mets starting lineup, which naturally limited his bench appearances.Updated award winner standings, with this month's winners in bold:PLAYER OF THE MONTHDavid Wright 13Johan Santana 6Carlos Beltran 5Jose Reyes 5R. Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 Best way for a starting pitcher to win PotM: excel in games your team doesn't win, and therefore garner points for pitching without having to share with the hitters, plus sympathy points.Think Harvey can sweep the season's PiotM awards? Johan Santana is really slumping.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 Nice month for Gee....great looking cards as always!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 Nice month for the whole rotation, really.Fun to see cameos from ex-Mets as Cowgill and Ankiel poke their heads out of the back end of the list. Lyon may be one also.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 Buck's PotM points:April = 21.86May = 9.82June = 5.10I bet we haven't seen that kind of dive before at least not for an uninjured player who (to this point anyway) hasn't lost any playing time.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 What's it gonna take to oust Brian Stokes as the all-time RotM king?
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 5, 2013 Author Posted July 5, 2013 That is pretty crazy, isn't it? Bobby Parnell can pass him this year, but he'd have to win each of the remaining three months. I suspect that it's Parnell who's giving Stokes most of his sleepless nights.
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 Spectacular cards -- of course!
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 Great carding. I hope Matt Harvey is player of the decade -- the 1970s and the 2010s -- before all is said and done. And thanks for keeping his uniform on him.
