Why does he have to be sent back to New York for the MRI?

It's the 21st Century, and there are state of the art hospitals in Philadelphia. MRI images can be made available to the team's New York doctors seconds after they are completed.

Unless it's a matter where time is of the essence and he'd have to be rushed into surgery (which does not appear to be the case in this instance), why not just have him examined locally?
