Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 It'll be interesting to see how Cecchini does this year. Our toolsy 1st round SS needs to progress pretty quickly and he didn't show much last year.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 He's got a brother two years older named Garin who is thirdbasinig in the Boston system and is absolutely rockin' it.
Guest Swan Swan H Guests Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 I fear to discover the names of the remaining brothers. Gaxin? Gamin? Gapin? (That last one was for Fman).
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 Clones overcame an early 2-0 deficit to defeat Aberdeen 4-2.Your Miller Lite Star of the Game was, of course, L.J. Mazzilli, who had two hits and two RBI including an opposite field double, and worked a big two-out, bases loaded walk. He also turned a nice DP with Gavin Cecchini, the shortstop.Mazzilli's double helped to finish off the Aberdeen starter, a pretty good lefty, before the Clones beat up on their bullpen. Leadoff man Patrick Biondi, a squat, muscular center fielder, had a double and made a nice running catch. Third baseman Anthony Chavez, a lanky Domincan I'd never heard of, had 2 hits. Cecchini also had two singles.Lefty Carlos Valdez started but gave up a bunch of hits. The win went to reliever Akeel Morris, the Virgin Islands teenager they drafted a few years back who Peter Gammons got all excited about. He's a little guy but went after the batters, got a couple of 3-pitch whiffs and was scoreless for 3.2 innings. John Mincone got the final out for the save. Was there with a million kids from Lunchpail's school, but saw FaFiF's own Jason Fry out front before gametime. Beauty night with a nice ocean breeze and near-full moon at the park., followed by the lighting of the parachute jump out beyond RF and a fireworks show. Other than stupid long lines at the concessions, good times!
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 Um, lil' Akeel Morris? He put up 7 Ks in his time tonight (3 2/3). Put together with his first appearance, he's got a Leatherrocketish 9 K (against 2 BB) in 4 2/3.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 Working a two-out, bases loaded walk is in LJ's blood. Is it true Ron Guidry, Jr. was on the mound?
Zach Thornton Syracuse Mets - AAA LHP On Sunday, the southpaw tossed five shutout innings as the bulk pitcher. He gave up 2 hits, walked 2 and had 5 strikeouts. Explore Zach Thornton News >
