Career Home Runs as a Met

1. Darryl Strawberry 252
2. Mike Piazza 220
3. David Wright 215

Here's a category where Ed Kranepool still reigns:

Career Singles as a Met

1. Ed Kranepool 1050
2. David Wright 931
3. Jose Reyes 898

And here's another one:

Career Games as a Met

1. Ed Kranepool 1853
2. David Wright 1331
3. Bud Harrelson 1322

Unnoticed by all, David Wright recently moved into second place on this list.

And it's hard to believe that nobody noticed this:

Career Sacrifice Flies as a Met

1. David Wright 59
2. Ed Kranepool 58
3. Howard Johnson 50
4. Cleon Jones 41

David entered the 2013 season tied with Kranepool with 58 sac flies. He broke the record on April 24 against the Dodgers.

Career Hit by Pitch as a Met

1. Ron Hunt 41
2. Cleon Jones 39
3. David Wright 39
4. Cliff Floyd 37
5. Felix Millan 36
6. Carlos Delgado 33
7. Edgardo Alfonzo 29

David has been hit by three pitches this year, which means he broke his tie with Felix Millan, passed Cliff Floyd, and moved into a tie with Cleon Jones. He's only two away from tying Ron Hunt.

Career Ground Into Double Play by a Met

1. Ed Kranepool 138
2. Mike Piazza 132
3. Jerry Grote 122
4. David Wright 120
5. Cleon Jones 106

So let's see, another 100 games this season will leave him ~400 short. So we're probably looking at late 2016 before Wright gets this one even if things go well injury-wise.

Career Ground Into Double Play by a Met

1. Ed Kranepool 138
2. Mike Piazza 132
3. Jerry Grote 122
4. David Wright 120
5. Cleon Jones 106

Seems like he started this week tied with Jones.

Yeah, I was looking at Murph the other day when I noticed that our top ten falls just short of have all at 1,000+
Looks like he'll have to hang around through at least the end of 2015 to pass HoJo

Dudes in the Top 50 Despite Actually Not Really Being Much With the Bat

7. Bud Harrelson 1029
11. Jerry Grote 994
16. Felix Millan 743
17. Rey Ordez 720
21. Wayne Garrett 667
31. Ken Boswell 528
48. Frank Taveras 389
49. Rafael Santana 376

I guess somebody can defend Boswell as a hitter, at least for his era, but still another argument could put Kranepool himself on this list.

It's a little unfair to Felix to put him in that group. He got his share of hits--over 1600 in his career, and probably well over 2000 if not for Ed Ott's high school wrestling flashback. And he used to hold the Mets' single-season record.

Well, 1600 or 2000, part of my reasoning was that piling up hits can happen despite not being a particularly good hitter. But, yes, it is probably unfair to put Felix in there.

More inexplicably, I left this guy out.

Exactly. If you took bloops, bleeders and bobbles that were scored hits out of his record, Jeter would have a lot fewer hits.
We now return this thread to Metly stuff.

The next time the Mets win a game (unless, that is, we're in the early stages of a job-killing losing streak) Terry Collins will become the ninth Mets manager to win 200 games.

Six wins will put him ahead of Jerry Manuel and in sole possession of eighth place on the Mets all-time list.

With 56 games remaining, the Mets will have to go 31-25 (a .554 winning percentage) for Terry to pass Dallas Green this season.

If he does come back next season, he'll have a shot at passing Willie Randolph and moving into fourth place. (And I wouldn't have guessed that Willie Randolph was in fourth place.)

WINS BY A METS MANAGER
Davey Johnson 595
Bobby Valentine 536
Gil Hodges 339
Willie Randolph 302
Yogi Berra 292
Joe Torre 286
Dallas Green 229
Jerry Manuel 204
Terry Collins 199

He and Magadan so belong next to each other. Never quite had the same batting eye, but else, they're two peas in a pod.

What is the single season team record for assists by a centerfielder? Seems like Lagares might be getting close.

Also - I heard on the radio tonight (WFAN?) that Satin has reached base safely in 29 consecutive games, a team rookie record.

Andrew Jones had 20 in '98. Del Unser had 20 in '68.

Beltran had 16 in '99.

I suspect this is one of those things you don't get a real chance at except your fist year or two.

Assists as CenterFielder

Scanning the list quickly - most of those single-season records seem to be from a long time ago.
The post-WWII mark looks to be Willie at 22 in '55
Post-expansion era is Andruw/Unser's 20 in '68/'98

Lagares is unlikely to reach that 20 mark, but he is throwing out runners at a greater rate than Jones did as he's more than halfway there in less than half the innings:
Jones 1,372 innings played, all in CF
Lagares: 603 innings played, all in CF

Shared record, in fact.

T1. Unser: 13 in 1975
T1. Beltran: 13 in 2006
T3. Mazzilli: 12 in 1979
T3. Wilson: 12 in 1982
5. Laggy: 11 in 2013

Ahh, Fangraphs only goes back to '56 with assists. B-R suggests that it's only going back to '54 but then includes all those old guys. I suspect those are simply outfielders at that point.

For LF, CF, RF fielding stats, we only have reliable data since 1954, so all leaders are since 1954.
