Mets Yearbook 1963......few things are better to watch.......I can see totally buying into the idea that Shea will be the greatest stadium EVER built for baseball......it will even have escalators , no more taking those long walks.......most modern scoreboard....wow

Casey's "all you have done for the youth of America" speech to Wagner cracks me up every time.

Coupla closeups on random fans, including one guy at 0:45 that looks like Jerry Stiller.

Wow, I'm pretty sure the other "random" fan is Rhea Pearlman.

Sure is...The other one doesn't look like Stiller to me..

Darryl has a vicious month. Baby-faced teammates appreciate it. Programmed synth music sounds horrible.

With all the young talent coming through yearbook after yearbook, no wonder you're overdosing.

Gil Hodges was 45 years old when the Mets won the '69 Series. It makes sense, as he played until 1963, but he seemed so much older.

Mariano: cheers from 1/3 of the crowd; boos from about 1/6; indifference from 1/2.

John Franco: cheers from about 4/5!

That says something about the distastefulness fans feel about saluting Rivera when they go nuts for Franco. Wearing the "C" on his jersey, too. Was that an actual lefthanded catcher's mitt or was it a firstbaseman's mitt?

He may have unknowingly been in decline then...

Noted in the 1964 Mets Yearbook - in 1963 the Mets held 'days' for two of their own - Gil Hodges and Duke Snider - as well as for Stan Musial and Willie Mays.

Did Tejada stop and ask for directions? Sure seemed like he should have beat that out.

I don't know who this Brignac guy is, but it really shows you something to see a Yankee make that play without the extraneous jump.
