Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 I dunno what's wrong with me, but the dope's that there's still hope for this squad this year.I'm thinking that Ike's single off Kimbrel the other night, followed by last night's sacking up, was a kind of spellbreaker that's began some gradual restoration not just of Ike, but the team he broke. Yes, these terrible starts and his overall unreliability have been too difficult a burden for the team to bear but they don't last forever. Wright despite decent numbers still has a lot of spectacular we've yet to see this year. I like Muffy at the top of the order. Doodoo is hitting everything hard and his BABIP is swinging back for the good finally. For a team 12 games over .500, 5 games in front of the division, and on an 8-game winning streak, the Braves didn't much impress me much. Jesus, the Mets are about the worst team in the league and they nearly took 2 of 3. I'm not saying we're without deadly flaws. We're loaded with 'em. But we're not this bad.And so it comes to these MFYs. Another team whose record far exceeds its ability and even more so than the Braves overdue for a punishing correction if only some team finds the determination to do it. I'm not saying the Mets ARE that team. But... They can be, goddamanit. It begins tonight. It continues tonight.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 got a lot of young uns floating around. let's make these Yanks look like grandpa at the family softball game.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 If we're going to show them for what they are, it helps to do it at home.Strikes me that Memorial Day games should be day games --- listening to Bob Murphy at the beach and whatnot. And all the pomp and forced patriotism feels like it plays into Yankee hands, somehow.Anyhow, this one's on WPIX, rather than a national broadcaster, so that might reduce some of the ceremony. On the other hand, WPIX will never not feel like the home of the Yankees to me.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 Hughes v. Niese is a wash so thats a start...

Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 If Gary was in the booth he would have made the analogy of Suzukis cletes and the classic ST:TOS ep. Name that ep? (cuz I forget)

Guest vtmet Guests Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 why is Tejada batting leadoff vs a RHP that he's never seen before? He's hitting .184 with a .457 OPS vs RHP this season...and over his career, he's been vulnerable for extended periods of times vs RHP (where's Mr Q to platoon with Tej?)...

Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 Guys sounds a lot more comfortable in Garrs role tonight.
Guest vtmet Guests Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 the way that Niese is swinging the bat (combined with his horrible year pitching)...it might be time to give him a tryout in Center Field...and then we might have both a centerfielder and a leadoff hitter...

Guest vtmet Guests Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 so is Phil Hughes passing his Citi Field audition for the Mets for this offseason's FA market? The NY Media is already saying that Hughes will eventually be a Met; and Harvey will eventually be a Yankee...
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 Phuck Phil Hughes. He's about to lose, goddamnit.
