Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 Managers, stop pulling effective starters. Ninety-four pitches? Come on.
Guest Mr. Met Puppet Guy Guests Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 "No, Mr. Met. I know the game is over, but why would we leave? Where would we go?"
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted April 3, 2013 Author Posted April 3, 2013 Another satisfying nine innings at Citi Field, albeit another nine degrees in the stands. But when Harvey is on, it's balmy as all get out.Beautiful young man.

Come on.He did labor a bit in the last inning...1st start of the year; it was freakin' cold; he's still basically a rookie; Mets don't have a good injury track record; and the game was pretty much out of reach...Normally I agree on this point, but tonight I wouldn't have sent him back out for the 8th inning...

Come on.2nd game of the season, cold weather, large lead, a near-rookie who's never pitched more than 160 innings in a year, coming off an off-day with relievers who have yet to see action ... I had no problem with it.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 It's a quick trip from "they can use the work" to "they're getting too much work."

Gotta incrementally go longer in the games. I mean, we know they probably won't got much deeper into the game than that with Harvey but I don't think him, or Niese, should jump to 110+ until they've done 100 a couple of times.

Terry used 7 out of 8 relievers, using the guys that he'd want to use Thursday afternoon in a tight game but didn't get the rook in for some experience when the games weren't on the line...

Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 I think I got more wood from the Doodoo homer than from Harvey's performance, although both were woody.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2013 Author Posted April 4, 2013 Duda...he got great wood on that homer. We're talking about batting, right?
