G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 Lowering key concession prices, that is. Cleveland, anyway. $4 beers $3 dogs $2 soft drink refills 15 $1 hot dog nights (less likely to cause a stir than 10 Cent Beer Night did in the same city).Indians signed also signed Michael Bourn in the offseason.
Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 $1 hot dogs? it might almost be worth the airfare...
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 "Dad, we should raise the prices of the slop. If everyoneelse is lowering their food prices, we'll gain revenue on thecompetition. And we need the extra money."
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 just for reference, the Indians lost fans last year at more than 2x the rate of the Mets, ended at 600k less, and had the second worst attendance in the majors, ahead of (by less than 4k) the Rays. Although I do think some 'dollar dog days' would be a decent idea at Citi. Who runs Progressive Field's concessions? Not Aramark I assume.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 The company servicing the Indians is called Delaware North and does 2 billion a year in revenue.http://www.delawarenorth.com/default.aspx
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 Selling a penny's worth of meat for a dollar to a monopolizingly captive marketplace, I would hope they make money hand over fist.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2013 Author Posted March 26, 2013 Red Sox are doing it, too. Perhaps the successor to Dave Howard's Ass will follow.Among the cuts in concessions: A 12-ounce cup of beer drops from $7.50-$8.50 to $5; Fenway franks are buy one, get one free; hot chocolate is nearly half price ($2, compared with $4.25 last season) and kids will eat for free (hot dog, snack and juice carton) as long as they pick up their meal before the third inning.Tickets for all 17 games at Fenway in April are still available online, including the home opener on April 8. Eleven of those games will start before 7 p.m. in another nod to the fans. Night games in April are usually chilly."We're looking for ways to fill the ballpark, and hopefully this will help," Kennedy told the Globe. "But more importantly, that it be received as a thank you given everything we've been through the last nine, 10 years together. We thought it was an appropriate gesture."
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 we haven't actually heard Mets prices this year yet right? (Not that I'm expected a drop) seemingly no Citi Field food preview either. I never remember what anything costs year to year, but I do plan on wandering around on Monday looking at the prices/items.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 Fred ain't gonna top up those trust funds by cutting prices....
