Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 As long as they wear hats of some kind, that's what matters. You can't go out there without a hat. You'll look stupid.

Shameful is also appropriate. If the players are too young or were not here in NY then it's the organization's duty to teach them. Bring in Todd Zeile or any fan and let them tell the players what that meant to the city. Fred Wilpon was here. He has no excuse. I distinctly remember saying they would never forget. I'm starting to think Fred never got it in the first place. Over the years these asshat owners have been searching for a Mets tradition. Remember when they tried stealing Sweet Caroline? In 2001 Valentine, Ordonez, Franco, Zeile et al gave the Mets a great one. The best one in all of baseball. And they threw it away. Something that great and they just discarded it. It disgusts me. I am ashamed of this team. It boggles my mind that they can fuck up something this simple. It makes me believe that they will never accomplish something as complex as building a winning baseball team.I agree with this. Saved me a lot of typing. I also feel its MLB that's being most disgraceful as opposed to the players. What is their reasoning? Uniformity? Bullshit. Players wear all kinds of crap that does not conform to the uniform logic. If wearing a non uniform hat is such a big issue for MLB, ok, Ill go ahead and accept that. But can't they just have a singular tribute team logo just for that day? Wear these on their shoulders.I don't think a logo like this would ruin the uniformity of the uniform.

Guest The Second Spitter Guests Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 They should just wear them and dare Bud to fine them afterwards. That's what the 86 Mets would have done.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 The '86 Mets would've kicked the ass of the terrorists before they got anywhere near their targets. That's how awesome the '86 Mets were.
Guest The Second Spitter Guests Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 I just had a vision of Kevin Mitchell decapitating Osama with a kitchen knife......it's been a long dday.

Guest cooby Guests Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 Not to steal the thread, but here's an interview from 2011 with Rey Ordonez about 9/11. Too bad it's in Spanish, can anybody interpret?Does he say he was in Miami? I don't remember why...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L_kelTPpx68&feature=context-shows&list=SLBTW, leave it run for a few seconds, cool surprise at the end

I don't remember why...Yes - This is what I have from my Monday Morning Mets column after 9/11 -Rey Ordoez was not with the team Tuesday as well, having stayed at his home in Parkland, Florida with the Mets' permission after the team finished its series in Florida against the Marlins. Not being able to fly last week, Ordoez drove back to New York and rejoined the team on Friday.
Guest cooby Guests Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 Thanks Metfairy! You have solved that for me!(you should still do those columns)
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 Thanks cooby. At the time I was also writing for Mets Inside Pitch, and I reached a burnout point. But it was fun while it lasted - good times
Guest cooby Guests Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 I do believe Mets Inside Pitch is defunct...you should be all rested up
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 Well, maybe something new will come my way one day
