Been released rather than assigned to AAA.

I mean, it had to come to this.

His 100th win came in his Mets debut.

His two-hitter on the final day stole no thunder from the swirl of controversy around the batting title that was secured in its midst.

He wasn't much in relief.

He wasn't much of a starter at the end.

But thanks, again, for being a 2001 Diamondback and keeping the world safe for the rest of us.

His starts were full of lousy beginnings and sometimes incredible recoveries. His relief appearances, well, you don't get time for recoveries in those. You come out strong or don't last long.

For a guy who still had 95-96-MPH heat, good movement, and more or less good conditioning in his forties, it's kinda strange he hasn't had a better career in general, but maybe his inability to figure things out until he made a few mistakes was a career-long trait. Maybe he didn't prepare well. Dunno.

He has eaten
the innings
that were in
the scorebox

and which
you were probably
saving
for Harvey

Forgive him
they were noxious
so hit-filled
and so walk-y

I saw his first Mets start -

And his last Mets start -

The first was better. The last was painful.

R.A. Dickey was "garbage in" by the same standards, so I definitely disagree with that.

Dickey will not be garbage out for sure.

I think his 1992 Pirate teammates have sent him there as a plant in the name of long-delayed retribution.

I had no idea Batista had been around so long.
