G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 The Canadian team in the American League gets a visit from a most Metropolitan bunch.Niese vs. Romero.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2012 Author Posted May 18, 2012 Besides being one hit from second-most in Mets history, David goes to Toronto tied with Mike Piazza for most RBI in interleague games, with 80.Sometimes it's fun to read the game notes.

G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2012 Author Posted May 18, 2012 A significant chunk of your 1981 Toronto Blue Jays pitching staff was a supergroup comprised of New York Met washouts:Jackson Todd 2-7Mark Bomback 5-5Juan Berengeuer 2-9Roy Lee Jackson 1-2, 7 savesDale Murray 1-0Nino Espinosa 0-0This fascinated me in 1981. It fascinates me now.The infusion of discarded Mets helped the Jays not at all. They finished seventh in the first half of 1981 and sixth in the second half of that strike-asunder year.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2012 Author Posted May 18, 2012 Doug Linton, a bit player on the 1993 Jays, not in the postseason, was presented a World Series ring before one of the first games of the '94 season when he was a new Met. Gord Ash flew down for a little home plate ceremony, which struck me as one of the classiest things I'd ever heard of.His rookie teammate, just finding his way alongside a young Carlos Delgado in 1993: Shawn Green. I find it hard to believe Green and Delgado were once young ballplayers.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2012 Author Posted May 18, 2012 Hidden in plain sight: Ex-Jay Frank Francisco.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 Mets who were Blue JaysI can't believe we forgot Mauro Gozzo!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 The first Met who was an ex-Jay: Dyar Miller.Miller might've had a more-extensive career, but he spent most of his 20s buried in the Oriole system behind.. everybody. Maybe bringing ex-Orioles personnel into the Mets braintrust is what precipitated his arrival in Queens. He gave them 42 innings to the tune of a 1.93 ERA. and then they let him walk.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 And they played through 1988 in the Toronto Exhibition Stadium... It's no Jarry Park I tells ya.

bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 Don't the umps have the discretion of awarding an extra base on a ground-rule double? If so, they should have right there.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 WTF, throwing home there, shitty arm, not a fast runner but still, throw to second.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 Neise throwing BP in Toronto. Awful display; four home runs so far.8-1

G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2012 Author Posted May 18, 2012 If they're not going to dress as major leaguers, then put the hockey gear back on and start checking some Maple Leafs into the boards.
