And remember, a sweep is as lucky as lucky can be.

Already taken 4 of 5 from the Phils so far this season as we head into the always popular Lee vs Gee game.
Not expected to be in attendance today however are singers Cee-Lo Green, Fee Waybill, or Bobby Vee. Other no-shows for the game will be actress Ruby Dee, former South Korean President Syngman Rhee (he's dead although I don't see how that's an excuse), one-time quarterback Tee Matin, Yi Jianlian from the NJ Nets, or, for that matter, me.

Cliff Lee is coming off the DL and is reported to be limited to around 80 pitches tonight. Prior to his DL stint he had started three games including an April 13th start where he surrendered 4 runs on 5 hits over 7 innings including HRs to Jason Bay (3R) and Scott Hairston in what was eventually a 5-2 NYM win. Surrounding that game he pitched to two no-decisions, both in games the Phils eventually lost:
- April 7 -- 1 run over 6 IPs to Pirates in game 2 of the season
- April 18 -- a 7-hit, 10-inning shut-out of SF that the Giants won in the 11th. That was the game where he hooked up with Cain who tossed a 9-inning 2-hitter. That was the last game Lee pitched prior to tonight.

Bastardo's pitched both of the first two games --- 47 pitches in all --- so hopefully Lee burns up his 80 pitches early and gives the Mets a good crack at the softer underbelly of the Philly pen.

so far the underbelly of the Phillies pen has been plenty soft..it's been sweet and Savery. *groan*

stole this from Ted Berg

I hope Wednesday's Gee-Lee matchup in Philly will be better than its homophonic Ben Affleck movie.

Mets don't make too many regulars take the bus trip to Clearwater:

Andres Torres CF
Daniel Murphy 2B
David Wright 3B
Scott Hairston RF
Vinny Rottino LF
Justin Turner SS
Ike Davis 1B
Rob Johnson C
Dillon Gee RHP

A little Spring Training-ish, no?

well..yeah. Duda got two hits off a lefty. Nieuwenhuis is awesome. not a day game after a night game. Lee will only pitch half the game anyway, off day tomorrow..

whatever, Rottino will go long-ball off Lee, calling it now.

Eh, unless the guy batting 9th is an underperformer, the lineup is what it is. Doodoo and Nieuwy ready to pinch-hit these guys back to the stone age if needed.

I'm Ike Davis. I started the season as the cleanup hitter. Now, I have three bench players batting in front of me.

With so many regulars already missing from the lineup it's not a good time to try it but maybe a week in the minors is what Ike needs.

It'd be a way for him to make a few adjustments without the pressure of failed adjustments continuing to permanently blot his baseball card.

But yeah, maybe when (if?) Bay comes back, Nieuie/Hairston can slide over to right and Duda to first for a week to 10 ten days.

We have two of the better 2009 Mets. They have Brian Schneider.

Is this for real?

That was a brisk first. Lee just might squeeze a CG out of those 75 pitches.

16-pitch second. That's improvement.

Merkinface is looking strong, too, but... well... let's just say I'm a little less sure about THAT company's stock.

... he writes, just before back-to-back singles to a punchline-of-a-bottom-order. If you can't induce weak contact from Freddy Galvis, you should think about going into poetry full-time.

And now Gary's got a cheesesteak hat on, thanks to a Phanatic ambush. What a whimsical brand of criminal assault!

Somehow worse that the Schneid got a hit than Galvis or Lee.

(And of COURSE it's Rob Johnson breaking up the perfecto/no-no.)

Lee...SIT!

Murph is gonna get you, Clifford.

Is anyone else weirded out by Juan Pierre's head size? Like his strike zone, it's just... unnatural.

54 offerings through 4 for Clifford. At this pace, he gets through 6 in about 80.

And there you are. Maybe Dillon can see to not getting in two-on, nobody-out situations EVERY inning. Dude must have come from a miner family, 'cause he really seems to enjoy digging.

67 pitches for Clifford through 5. Last time through, or does he stay 'til his next AB?
