Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2012 Posted May 27, 2012 They're not calling it a "set-back" for Ruben but apparently his progress isn't what they were hoping for and his rehab stint has been delayed.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 27, 2012 Author Posted May 27, 2012 Omar Quintanilla: .280 / .345 / .493 // .839.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 Yo Quintanilla, get to the airport ASAP!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 28, 2012 Author Posted May 28, 2012 I think they need two infielders. At least until Cedeno is back on the field. They've been faking it too much at shortstop.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 O.Q. is NOT on the 40-man so some dancing will be required to get him up here.Tejada probably still needs a week or more.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 28, 2012 Author Posted May 28, 2012 Would it be the worst thing in the world if Josh Satin was removed from the roster and exposed?Jack Egbert, for that matter, is going to be sent down in a day or two anyhow. How about removing him from the roster?

Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 Satin's still borderline a prospect or whatever. youngish. Not exactly expecting much from him but trying to avoid just losing guys like that. Of course, they jettisoned a similar "probably not going to make it but still young" case in F-Mart for the likes of D.J. Carrasco.Don't they still have a spot open or did Egbert take it? Acosta will be one spot, but the Mets don't have a ton of flexibility, especially if you want to consider the option of Harvey being added late in the year. Johnson/Nickeas could be another spot depending on how many days away Thole is.I imagine it's going to be Valdespin up though.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 28, 2012 Author Posted May 28, 2012 Like I said, I kind of want two guys capable of playing shortstop.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 Terry said Quintanilla is injured and they might look to AA.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 Cedeno's only day-to-day (may even be available for Tuesday) so it's not like we have to jump through hoops to get two SS in here.Even if Wright has to start there for one game and then be the only back-up for a week until Tejada returns that wouldn't be the worst thing.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 29, 2012 Author Posted May 29, 2012 Supposedly, Wally had a sitdown with Valdespin in the last week. And if Wally Backman needs to tell you to grow up, that's maybe something you should look at.Anyhow, that's maybe relevant as far as who got the call last night.OE: The report.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 Is 'concentration' code for something? Do they think he was pouting after being demoted?
Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 Emaus is at AAA? i thought we dumped him.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 29, 2012 Author Posted May 29, 2012 We didn't dump him so much as return him to the Blue Jays for a nominal rule-fiver-who-can't-stick fee.The Jays immediately traded him to the Rockies, who flipped him at the end of last season to the Red Sox. The Sox released him at the start of this season, and the Mets signed him to a minor league deal a few weeks later around the time of Cedeo's first injury.

Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 Cedeno to DL; Valdespin up...
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 30, 2012 Author Posted May 30, 2012 That's got to be a relief to Sugarpants.I was really curious about as to Wally's contributions as to the busting of Valdy below Qunitanilla on the callup chart.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 Qunitanilla, btw, was the 5th different starting SS this season [Tejada with 27 starts; Cedeno = 16; Turner = 5; with OQ & JV at one each prior to tonight] tying that position with 1B for [u:1c44vvfi]2nd most[/u:1c44vvfi] in the musical chairs competition.Only LF with six different starters [bay, 14 starts; Hairston - tonight will be his 13th; Nieuwenhuis = 12; Baxter = 9; Rottino = 2; and Valdespin = 1] has had more, but, really, LF is probably the position most likely to see the least stability for most teams in most years I would think. Not so good to see that kind of turnover at SS.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 30, 2012 Author Posted May 30, 2012 And yet, we're going .274 / .341 / .368 // .710 at shortstop, which beats Jos Reyes' .262 / .342 / .338 // .681.Yes, we're out-slugging him.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 Tejada will workout tomorrow, and if he's fine will go do some rehab games.

Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 this is just nuts. where's Mike Bordick when we need him?
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 Wilmer Flores is hitting pretty well in St. Lucie, on the 40 man. They switched him to third this season, but still..
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 Oh, Buff also has Oswaldo Navarro, career .130 hitter in cuppas in Seattle (2006) and Houston (2010) but a solid .260/333/325 in almost 1,000 minor league games, 600 at ss.
