Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 I think I've detected the Mets' pitching plan: Follow each shitty hit you give up with a HR

Farmer Ted Old-Timey Member Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Are you fucking shitting me? Houston? The Astros? Doing this to the Mighty Mets?
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 CALLING JEREMY HEFNER... CALLING JEREMY HEFNER...
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 It's come to the point where as soon as I see a dinky swinging bunt up the 3rd base line I instantly know what's coming next.
HahnSolo Old-Timey Member Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Schwinden due up this inning. You let him hit?
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 It would be irresponsible to give Schwinden another Mets start anytime soon.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 It was a dumb idea to have to get to him so soon, as I said before. I really feel like the Mets have to try and win all they can while they can still see the leaders. Wasted two games on this stiff in addition to the 4 last year. He's never had a good Major League game.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 I probably do. The bench is short, the bullpen's gassed. On the other hand, offday tomorrow.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 the 4 last year were at least competitive and he was striking some guys out. Hasn't done this yet this year. Might not.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Jesus H, Ceetar. They were in September, he was giving up 2 runners an inning, and he only got out of the 5th once. They've lost every game he's ever pitched.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 as he surrenders another HR.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 To Chris Johnson again. If I'm Ceetar, I'm thinking that Schwinden is a pretty good pitcher as long as he's not pitching to Chris Johnson.

'big league' stuff or not, you can't do that.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 We are the Mets. This is our gig.Five-run holes is what dig
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Do you let Schwinden bat in the 5th? Let him take his lumps and spare the bullpen some innings? Or do you get him the hell out of there now?
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 You guys will dig this quote from Josh Lewin ( in re strikeouts):"When you're having more than one, Schafer's the guy to pitch to."and I'll follow that up with reminding you to read Greg's paper from Hofstra. good stuff. http://www.faithandfearinflushing.com/2012/05/02/our-shared-language-besides-rats/
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Turner hits for Schwinden, thereby ending his misery for the day.Tejada has his third hit of the day.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 I have to say that the weak ground-ball practice they've apparently been taking is paying off really nicely.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Manny are the problems of this team.
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 I'm not gonna be allowed to post another KTE for a long time, I fear.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Astros have a better team than we do, it's pretty clear.

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 At this point, I'd let Valdespin finish the game for Wright.I'd pull Murphy and Tejada too, except that with Turner used I think the Mets are out of infielders.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 The problem with our attempts to mount comeback via sneaking singles through the hole is that you get to the point when you'll need about 15 of them in a row.

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 "Smash your gnome" sounds like some kind of kinky euphemism.
