TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 He's making up for giving Norris three batters too many.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 So Tony LaRussa didn't actually retire but changed his name to the pornoriffic "Brad Mills"?
Piggiestomatoes Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Geez. Gary almost sounded like Kay or Sterling on Hairston's out.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 How many more cheap hits are these dudes gonna get?All but one of them so far.
Piggiestomatoes Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Maybe Mills can spend some time on fundies tomorrow. Damn, he was batting .370.

Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Damn. Stolen base does us in.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 They still need to find enough pitchers to get those last three outs.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Acosta teaches us that we shouldn't believe in him for more than one inning.Gotta come from behind again.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 C'mon guys, this team has a history of kicking Brett Myers ass.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 PH-ing Valdespin instead of Turner because of L/R?!?

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Memo to file: Matt Downs hits Dickey.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Kinda unlucky tonite. I know I'm looking at it the wrong way but we're up against it for the series already now with Schwinnie going Wednesday.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Well, Jon Niese has gotten on base also. Turner's career .316 OBP vs. righties isn't getting me to the bank. Valdy had more power, more speed, and more leftiness. Turner had more experience, but that's not where Terry put his faith. I'm OK with that.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Gotta beat the Stros, just gotta.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 I went to bed in the middle of the 8th and missed the winning run. Too sleepy.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 Looks like we have a team that can beat any team in the league if they make their plays and avoid errors and base-running mistakes and such, and can lose to any team in the league if they don't.And they look like they're going to be challenged for the time being to avoid such mistakes.1) I'm still trying to wrap my head around the notion of a poor infielder like Teufel hired to be the infield coach. I realize history is filled with poor pitchers and poor hitters going on to do an excellent job as coaches. I guess I have to decide whether I believe Teufel lacked any skill whatsoever and filled in the gap with knowledge or lacked knowledge as well. I don't know, but he did set a record for the fewest doubleplays by a secondbaseman with over 145 games, or something.2) When you're 6-for-12 in stolen bases, stop running. (I would have guessed they were more like 3-for-18.)Anyhow, Tim Teufel and Tom Goodwin: I'm countin' on you; you can carry me through.
