That would be ripping off the Band-Aid brand bandage in one quick pull. But the "coaches" section on the mets.com roster now has a blank next to Geren. Perhaps he'll go with something not as Geren but more Generic.

I was thinking they'd maybe reclaim it by bringing in Ed Kranepool or Hubie Brooks or Jeff McKnight as a spring training guest instructor. On the other hand, I also kind get the impression that Ed Kranepool doesn't get out of bed for the kind of money that the Mets would pay him to be a guest instructor.
