Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 One an otherwise dreary day here in Michigan, I offer an image sure to bring a smile: The delightful Nancy Seaver. The always amazing Fleer Sticker Project blog has stills from the 1971 All-Star game broadcast, and the Seavers were in an ad.http://fleersticker.blogspot.com/2011/07/1971-all-star-game-broadcast.html

G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 Tom just did an interview with Ed Coleman for Mets Extra. The subject of the second half was wine, which Tom helpfully seemed to have drunk his share of before speaking. Highlights: referred to himself as a "studmuffin" when he pitched; described how he brings everyone from the vineyard to a Giants game every year and he gets them on the field; alluded to Christy Mathewson and Walter Johnson as his historical "heroes" and now he's among "the gods" at Cooperstown...which was all part of his roundabout explanation of why he makes wine. Or something. On the FAN site currently.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 It's lovely and harmless, but he's really turned into a budding Casey Stengel in his late sixties.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 Except Casey was still doing for baseball, and Tom kinda lives in the glow of what baseball has done for him.Which he's entitled to, certainly, but it can frustrate.
