On the road, in a chili-spiked launching pad?

I am most definitely not holding my breath. (Hell, if it were a day game, I might skip following it altogether.)

Pelf's due for a great outing. I'm hoping today is the day.

A Mets game, featuring Pelf, is like a freshly baked, flaky croissant, with a dog turd resting comfortably on top of it.

Reyes singles (what, he hasn't gone two games without reaching all year) Wright singles, Pagan drives 'em both in. 2-0.

This is gorgeous. Hard not to optimistic about this team going forward.

Whatever playoff hopes the Reds have are being absolutely trampled here.

First we get something for Beltran, then this.

I'm going to go on record and say there is no way on earth that this team wins 95 and makes the playoffs. None.

It's the little joys that get me through the day. (If this ragtag group isn't making the playoffs, with the road-warrior track record and frustrating overachievement, it does have spirited-serial-spoiler written all over it, no?)

I don't think they do both, no, but the second is still possible, if extremely unlikely.

I told someone over the weekend that the Mets aren't good enough to make the playoffs this season, but that they are definitely good enough to ruin it for everybody else.

Yeah, I think they're certainly good enough, with or without Beltran.

They'll probably fail, but they're good enough to succeed.

I love this offense, and I love being excited that Murphy is coming up and teams suddenly don't know where to pitch him.
