Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 We'll see a lot of Doodoo before this week is over.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 For a guy who didn't look like he could play at all while he was with us and shows below-average skills in just about every facet of the game, he's managed to last all or part of 16 seasons in the big leagues at this point and currently sits just six hits short of 1,000
Guest sharpie Guests Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 There'd be a lot of grumbling round here if he was hitting 6th for the Mets.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 And he's playing third and batting sixth for a pretty good offensive team.(And no, God, I'm not asking him to go all Joe Randa on my team tonight. Much love to Miguel Cairo.)
Guest sharpie Guests Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 Could be that is where Scott Rolen hits so the 6th spot in the order has been declared "the third baseman slot" regardless of whether it would make sense to have that guy potentially get more at bats than the 7th or 8th hitters.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 (edited) And he's playing third and batting sixth for a pretty good offensive team. More to the point, he's playing third and batting sixth for a Dusty Baker team. (I'm not sure, but I'd bet a pinky or two that that's where Rolen was batting.)OE: Whoops. Somehow missed Sharpie's. Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 Prior to the game, Reds deal OF Johnny Gomes to the Natinals for two minor leaguers. To fill the roster spot they called up 1B Yonder Alonso. He's had a handful of ML ABs prior to this and was one of the bushel of 1Bmen drafted in 2008, 7th overall or 11 spots in front of Ike.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 So, hey, early lead! Woot!
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 The Reds look like they're learning how to field all of a sudden. That doesn't bode well for our future run-scoring potential.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 Gary said something a few minutes ago about "no home runs so far in this series". Gosh, I wished he hadn't said that as soon as he said it.I wish it more now.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 What a teeny-tiny, little ballpark they have.

Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 Great turn there by Pridie. I'm glad he's rejoined the Mets.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 Why is Manny Acosta still on this team?
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 Acosta: Kinda scary to watch.
