Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 Funny to see Davis and Wright greeting the team in the tunnel.

I hesitate to say it was a 'good game' to be at. But it was certainly something. I've got a billion (200) pictures to upload. Lesbian athletic fans, flooded field, some food..

Hopefully he'll swing through and explain.browser kills my battery real bad so I try to avoid it during games when I know I'm short.I keep a spare set of batteries in my bag for my camera. I use rechargeables, and I guess it'd been a while and they decharged. the rain delay wasn't even over, so I tweeted "Does Citi Field sell batteries anywhere?" and MetsWFAN asked me how many and offered me some. So I met him outside the control room and he came out and handed me an open package of batteries. actually 6. very cool of him. I had to sneak into the Excelsior level to do so, since I only paid $12 to get into the stadium, but hey..I did find out they sell batteries in pairs of two for $4 in the main Citi Field shop in the rotunda, but I probably wouldn't have spent 8 on that.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 Yeah, long, boring, pointless night but someone had to win.My friend and I wound up sitting next to a nice young sober wide-eyed Midwestern couple (Cub fans) in New York on an East Coast ballpark swing (they were in Boston the other day, at MFY Stadium Friday etc. They were pulling for us. I didn't make it see to Edgy's peeps, for one I didn't know where till late, then I couldn't move and mess things up. Plus they were on the complete opposite side and on a level I'm not sure my ticket would allow access to. So I toasted them from across the park.Tejada needs a day off, probably Turner too. I like that Terry deployed everything he had to win this thing but disagreed with the Paulino bunt, specially with a lefty up there.Matsui made more good plays in the OF than I would have expected.Stadium played "Let's Go" in the 12th inning and "After Midnight" natch in the 13th.I couldn't believe the Mets were doing the crowd-jumping pie-face walkoff thing after that ugly win but I guess we gotta take it. Very bice job of relief by Parnell and Beat-O especially.

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 So, a win's a win, maybe, but can we agree that this is about as weak and passive a win since that 20-inning debacle with St. Louis?I give Terry credit from using his releivers more or less in their order on the depth chart, but if the Mets lost a walkoff game this way, I don't think we'd be particuarly pleased with the batter's seeming lack of effort in avoiding the pitch.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 I wish that Thole had the same "lack of effort" (I'll call it "baseball smarts") as Turner when he was up with bases loaded in the bottom of the 9th, tie game, 1 out--he avoided the pitch, hit into a DP, and the Mets lost in extras.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 Maybe, but I always come around to the idea that if you do things like a looza, either you are a looza or are fast on your way to becoming one. I know there's a time-honored tradition to taking one for the team, but in the long term, bullshit winning is unsustainable.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 Maybe Ziegler shouldn't have thrown it so close to the batter. Maybe Melvin shouldn't have walked Reyes intentionally to set up the finale. "Bullshit winning"--smart baseball by Turner.
