ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 To the winner goes the series. Tyler Chatwood has been underwhelming as a rookie. I hope he is not one of those guys the Mets see for the first time and don't.Fathers Day baseball...

Theoldmole Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 The only thing worse than three runs against the Mets is three runs against the Mets followed by a commercial featuring Jeter.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 Down 4-0 with two on. This would be a serious rally if Bay's shot was called fair.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 Gotta do a better job getting some better batters in there for Tejada.
Theoldmole Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 Fantastic play by Reyes.**Don't trade him.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2011 Author Posted June 19, 2011 Chatwood performing the "unhittable first time starter vs. Mets" role well.

ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2011 Author Posted June 19, 2011 OK, Ralph is treading dangerous territory with the "Jose can you see" jokes..
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 Ralph sounds a little slurrier than usual today, actually.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 Jose gets a rip in and the Mets break the shutout.Tying run on triple deck.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 Beltran brings another home. Two out, tying run on double deck.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 Awesome. A "Let's go, Mets" cheer.Hairston pinch-hitting for Murphy against the lefty? OK.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 There's an ump with an early plane reservation!
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 And a crappy call ends it. It's a getaway day for the umps also. The Mets came out flat. But the Angels deserved to lose for coming out with red numbers against red tops. Come on. Care.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 Not even close at first. Was that guy a vacation ump?
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2011 Author Posted June 19, 2011 Well, that was a peach, and Hairston was very safe.

G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 Love that Ralph repeated his "Happy birthday to all you fathers" line on his way out the door.

Don't mean to sound like the Washington Post, but get a female or a man of color or one of those comics the Mets are so popular with. Heck, two guys can cover the booth. Send Darling on a jaunt into the unwashed masses. (We all konw that Keith doesn't get out of bed for less than $10,000.)
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 He's under contract and is an occasional weekend anchor fill-in, so perhaps he was most available. Behind Guys! there really is no depth per se on the SNY Mets beat bench. Darling may have been doing a TBS game. (Guys! is doing a Cyclones game Monday night so he was given the day off to be with his family, or as he calls them, Guys.)McAnaney doesn't do a thing for me but it was refreshing to hear at least one report that wasn't interspersed with "Guys," "Guys!" and "Guys?"
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2011 Author Posted June 19, 2011 Better than "Hey Guys and Dolls!."
duan Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 not sure where to put this, but to me the ph by willie harris was a disaster and tbh you look at the numbers (2 for 25 or something) I blame Collins. It'd almost have been better to let Carasco bunt so at least we'd get lead runner to 3rd and keep him in the game. There's no doubt that if Reyes' fly had been with a man on 3rd he'd have scored - & Tejeda would probably have advanced too. Or else bring in the guy you think has the best bet to actually do damage (which i'd have thought would be Hairston). 2 men on with nobody out - that's your chance to make the game get closer and willie harris isn't the man I'd give that responsibility to.
