Parnell replaces Jose on the roster. Of course you add a RP to replace a SS. (Perhaps they wanted an extra RP in case RA has trouble tomorrow night.)

Rubin: Jose Reyes to ESPN's Enrique Rojas he expects to return this series. Reyes is eligible to be activated from the bereavement list on Thursday.

He should be back Wednesday. It's not immediate family.

Thanks, Fred, for the idiotic trucker's hats. You're a real patriot.

These may be the ugliest covers outside of a softball diamond.

He can't be back Wednesday because using the bereavement list means he has to be out a minimum of three days.

Weird game so far. Mets have like a zillion hits and baserunners yet have only scored via three of the cheesiest runs in the history of the game.
Be nice if they actually got a hit other than a single.

I was just being unreasonably mean.

Turner! I know it's way too early to even think about such things -- but are either Turner or Gee still eligible for the ROY this year? Or did they play too much last season?

Both are officially rookies.

I can't not stare at Pagan's beard. It's like the Platonic ideal of "beard."

NL Rookies - non pitchers (min. 75 PA's):

So, seventh inning, tying run on third, go-ahead on first. Did they play in? Back? Halfway? In at the corners and back up the middle?

Because I'm really down with Terry if he had enough faith in the team to concede the tying run.

Corners, IIRC-- but that may have been because they were sorta-holding the runners on there.

So... Frankie doesn't do his Blame-The-Sky point in non-save situations?

(Oh, and take this game to central booking, Lou.)

Was thinking the same thing. How gay is that?

These fruits and I enjoyed tonight's game.

Games against the Pirates cure all ills.

Let me preface this by saying I was only really half watching because was at my parents and such, but I believe this is the play that Harris made the diving stop on and got the out at second with the tying run scoring on the FC? yeah, corners were in. Don't know elsewhere.

I'm thinking seventh inning against the Pirates, I play back. Better team or later inning, I maybe get more aggressive.

Went to the game last night on Gwreck's tickets (thanks!) and it was mrs. sharpie's first time at CitiField.

She makes no bones about being a fair weather fan. Watched a bunch of the '86 team, tuned out in the '90's, got interested in the early 2000s, etc.

She made the point, based on the Diamond Vision pix, that these were two pretty homely teams last night and, in particular, while the Mets fielded a better looking squad than the Pirates (who lost major points for Lyle Overbay and Chris Snyder), this is a far cry lookswise from previous Mets teams.

Nick Evans' pinch hitting in the 8th was the best we could do taking the crown from the not-very-good-looking Josh Thole. Granted Reyes and Wright were out of the lineup (Bay and Davis would probably have not helped that much) but still. Otherwise, she enjoyed it.
