Piggiestomatoes Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2011 Posted May 30, 2011 Liked the Liberty Belles and the JV infield is representing. Willie may not be 3B of the future but that was a damn good stop last inning.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2011 Posted May 30, 2011 Anybody hear that about Ike Davis? Coming back to NY for reexamination..not good. Why am I not surprised.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2011 Posted May 30, 2011 (edited) Weird game so far. Mets have like a zillion hits and baserunners yet have only scored via three of the cheesiest runs in the history of the game.Be nice if they actually got a hit other than a single. ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2011 Posted May 30, 2011 I was being sarcastic on McCullough's chat when I asked if Ike would be back before the all-star game.Sorry guys..
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2011 Posted May 30, 2011 OK, THOSE weren't cheesy runs !!
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2011 Author Posted May 30, 2011 Great reactions from the team after Thole comes through.
Piggiestomatoes Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2011 Posted May 30, 2011 Let's add a couple more. Gee deserves this W.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2011 Posted May 30, 2011 Amazing what a couple of doubles will do for ya'.
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted May 30, 2011 Posted May 30, 2011 Turner! I know it's way too early to even think about such things -- but are either Turner or Gee still eligible for the ROY this year? Or did they play too much last season?

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted May 30, 2011 Posted May 30, 2011 So, seventh inning, tying run on third, go-ahead on first. Did they play in? Back? Halfway? In at the corners and back up the middle?Because I'm really down with Terry if he had enough faith in the team to concede the tying run.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted May 30, 2011 Posted May 30, 2011 Corners, IIRC-- but that may have been because they were sorta-holding the runners on there.So... Frankie doesn't do his Blame-The-Sky point in non-save situations?(Oh, and take this game to central booking, Lou.)

Don't know elsewhere.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 I'm thinking seventh inning against the Pirates, I play back. Better team or later inning, I maybe get more aggressive.
Guest sharpie Guests Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 Went to the game last night on Gwreck's tickets (thanks!) and it was mrs. sharpie's first time at CitiField. She makes no bones about being a fair weather fan. Watched a bunch of the '86 team, tuned out in the '90's, got interested in the early 2000s, etc.She made the point, based on the Diamond Vision pix, that these were two pretty homely teams last night and, in particular, while the Mets fielded a better looking squad than the Pirates (who lost major points for Lyle Overbay and Chris Snyder), this is a far cry lookswise from previous Mets teams. Nick Evans' pinch hitting in the 8th was the best we could do taking the crown from the not-very-good-looking Josh Thole. Granted Reyes and Wright were out of the lineup (Bay and Davis would probably have not helped that much) but still. Otherwise, she enjoyed it.
