I don't think I know the enemy.

My random Met/Cub knowledge:

They fucked up Tim Leary.

Played their fierst night game at Wrigley against the Mets.

Black cat at Shea against them effectively gave the Mets the pennant in '69.

Mets clinched the division in '86 against them.

Shawon Dunston chosen ahead of Dwight Gooden (1 & 5 if I'm not mistaken)

Randy beget Todd.

What else you got...?

Can I whine a little about Harris now? Why can't Fernando stand there? It's not _that_ much different than playing a corner, he's done it before, he's not horrible at it, and I'd rather his bat/prospectness in a lineup.

Unless the worry is the extra running will break him? If that's the case send him out there anyway hope he hits well and trade him to the AL now.

I'm sure the ole winds blowing out at Wrigley line will get trotted out as to why Harris is out there.

Fernando can catch the wind also.

'Nando just got three games' worth of ABs. I'm thinking it's a playing-time balance thing. (Which is a shame-- I have a feeling he'd punish Dempster right now.)

even if you don't want to play him in CF for some metaphysical reason, move Bay over and play Fartinez in LF. Bay has played CF before, and he's not that bad at it. I don't get Harris in this lineup, under any circumstances.

I don't know if I've been paying that close attention to his gait. A couple of twitter responders inferred that Martinez is basically running like Ramon Castro. true?

I think folks like to rush to extremes. Ramon Castro indeed.

Paulino, though, has a most pronounced Castronity to him.

Actually the comparison was to Kirk Gibson when he hit the home run off Eckersly, but I toned it done.

Since Martinez sightings have been mostly confined to the realm of prospect-watchers, I suspect many complaints about his running stems from twitterers (mis)repeating info about how age and injuries have slowed him over the years. It's a relative thing though and has mostly to do with a tamping down of projections made while he was 17 y/o and the apple of many scouts' eyes. IOW, he's not slow now although the slowing he's shown from age 17 to 22 indicates there'll be a lot more when he's all growed-up. There were always questions anyway about whether he could cut it as a true CF and the pct who still think so is even smaller now I'm sure - but that's still a ways from saying that his speed makes him almost slow enough to become an honorary Molina brother.

This. . .and then drop Bay in the order.

A vet bench player on a one-year dealio, it would seem, should have to earn every at-bat he gets. If Martinez and Harris were both bonds, there would be more to gain by cashing in Martinez.

That said, he went 3-4 with a walk in his last start, and has shown a nice walk rate in general, so he has done some earning of late. But Fernando would still be my first choice against righties. I mean, Martinez's OPS+ is 139 Harris's is 84. I would be stayinig up late at night searching for chances to get Fernando into the lineup.

Maybe they're thinking of a healing leg, and for now only wanting to put him on defense one game in three, or some'n'.

2 cracks, 1 time through the lineup against a pitcher who can't locate his fastball with consistency or throw a slider with any feel, and all the Mets have done is give him a semi-hefty pitch count.

OMFG , Pena tried to bunt with two strikes, he couldn't hold his head lower walking back to the dugout....apparently he has two two strike hits this year, against the shift they say.

Oh holy fuck - catch the ball Paulino!

OMFG .Mets can't catch the ball tonight...Murphy throws home to get the out at the plate and Paulino couldn't hold the ball.
